Posted: 10 Nov 2019 03:20 PM PST I've been thinking some dumb things, like what if silent hill but southern gothic? think about it. The same town, but at some point in the past, earlier in its history. first off, as a musician, I'm squealing thinking about the cool shit you could do. Classic SH music with a bluegrass/gothic feel, mandolin, banjo, washboard, bells, whistles. Think about the monsters that could be conjured by someone's psyche. Maybe a character is seen in the background stalking the protagonist, not unlike Ulysses in fallout:new vegas. Imagine a humanoid wearing furs and a bird skull mask, or a goat skull mask, perched atop a tree, placed in a way where first time players might go through without noticing. Just a little something to give you the feeling of being watched. Imagine reimaginings of classic locations. What did the cafe look like earlier in the history of the town? Our protagonist walks in the 5to2 Cafe, everything is quiet. As you walk across the room, you hear a crack, and then for a moment, you could have SWORN you heard faint ragtime piano music playing. But it's gone now. You see some ghostly apparitions, drifting in and out, maybe a silent bartender cleaning down the counters, who disappears when you approach. What would the other world look like? You could head a lot of directions with that. What if more wooded areas? You stumble out of a shed, and into the forest. You seem to pass the same tree over and over. You see some wacky southern monster or some shit. What if something jumped out at you, something fleshy, something shiny and gross, but at the same time, something resembling a witch, or a trapper, or a lumberjack. Hell, what was the cult like at the time? I don't know, I'm just throwing ideas out there because I think the idea is fun. Have yall ever thought about different silent hill Aesthetics? Or maybe what it would look like to certain people, i.e. alternate interpretations of the other world? [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Nov 2019 02:55 PM PST I'm playing silent hill games with my girl, we've gotten through SH2 together, we're starting SH1 today. I'm using two emulators. I've got the controls squared away for SH1, but I'm wondering if any of yall know of any convenient ps2 to keyboard configurations, both for SH3 and SH4? I find myself frustrated messing with the keyboard configurations because I always forget what worked for me last time. Maybe it's because I've never actually played anything with a PS2 controller so I'm not too familiar. [link] [comments]
Play the opening of Silent Hill in first-person Posted: 10 Nov 2019 03:47 AM PST Freak yourself out all over again. Game designer and Silent Hill fan Zero Trace Operative has spent the last five months recreating the opening of the first game in the Silent Hill series in first-person. This concept demo is playable now, and although it's only about four minutes long it's a powerful hit of nostalgia for anyone who spent a chunk of 1999 being terrified of foggy streets and air-raid sirens. According to ZTO's blog about this demo, the assets are traced from model extractions rather than being ripped directly from the actual game, but they're still eerily familiar, even in this new perspective. You can download the Silent Hill Remake demo from itch.io. ZTO has no plans to continue work on this fan tribute, and considers it complete as it stands. Fix for Silent Hill 2 PC save issues? Posted: 09 Nov 2019 09:19 PM PST I have the enhanced edition working pretty well, however when I try to save the game it tells me I do not have enough space. [link] [comments]
Posted: 09 Nov 2019 10:11 PM PST I can't believe it I finally got Silent Hill 2. It's the greatest hits version but that comes with more content doesn't it? The case needs to be cleaned up a bit and I still need to find a PS2 controller but I finally got SH2. Now I just need 3. I paid about $34 for it but which I assume is a good price? Now I just need 3, what's a good price to pay for it? [link] [comments]
