Chainsaw in SH4 different depending on which version of the game you're playing? Posted: 28 Apr 2020 10:51 PM PDT I was reading some old FAQs & walkthroughs about Silent Hill 4 and they tend to be pretty consistent regarding their information, except for the chainsaw. Some FAQs mentioned the chainsaw being a pretty solid, powerful, and useful weapon all around. Other FAQs mentioned that the damage output was ridiculously low, with one even theorizing that it was programmed incorrectly just because of how low the damage output was. That got me thinking, maybe different versions of the game wielded different damage output for the chainsaw, and that's why it has inconsistent documentation? Such as the US, PAL, or Japanese versions? [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Apr 2020 09:26 PM PDT I'm looking to sell 4 different authentic Silent Hill GECCO PVC figures that I bought in 2014. I have the Pyramid Head, Bubble Head Nurse, Heather Mason, and Robbie the Rabbit (pink version) figurines. I love Silent Hill so so much but these have just been sitting around in their boxes with no one to appreciate them. I forget what I bought them for (probably too much) but I don't know how much people are willing to buy them for now. Any ideas? Is $150 each unreasonable? Is anyone even in the market for these anymore? [link] [comments]
Just had my fiancé beat the first game! Posted: 28 Apr 2020 01:03 PM PDT These games mean a lot to me and it makes me happy that he seemed to really enjoy it (audio bugs aside) and I'm absolutely thrilled! I'm going to have him play 2,3 and then 4 next so I think I'm in for a happy couple of weeks. [link] [comments]
How best to play the first game? Posted: 28 Apr 2020 01:53 PM PDT Hi everyone, I've been looking to play the first Silent Hill. It seems pretty expensive if I want to buy the original ps1 disc. What would you recommend as the best way to play the first game? Is there a good platform to play it on or online store? [link] [comments]
I'm revisiting the second part of my Silent Hill 4 fan fiction. Posted: 28 Apr 2020 10:38 PM PDT A few years back I wrote a Silent Hill 4 fan fiction in screenplay format. It resulted in a document over 180 pages. Since then, I've cut the document in half and have revised the first half several times. When I found myself liking what I had, I shared the first part on AO3. To be honest, I haven't had many readers for it and I'm assuming screenplay format isn't too popular in fan fiction or I'm doing something terribly wrong in how I share it. Despite the lack of readers, I decided today to revisit the second part in an attempt to finish the overall story. So far, there are huge inconsistencies between the two parts as I've changed a lot in the first part. But I'm gonna stick with it. This is the story of Joseph Schreiber before the events of Silent Hill 4. I used the game canon as a guideline to build my own story. There are parallels with the games and new ideas. It does not adhere to the game 100%. What I wanted to accomplish with this story was what the movies of Silent Hill and the sequel, Silent Hill Revelations, couldn't do, which was having a strong script with a deep lore and characters. I wanted to write the Silent Hill movie I wanted to see. Why am I posting? I just wanted share my enthusiasm as I revisit the second part. There are some strong ideas in it that need to be fleshed out. I already rewrote about fifteen pages. I eventually want to have both scripts finished as if they were going to be produced. They are NOT being produced by anyone and I'm okay with that. I know that fan fiction is fan fiction and rarely do they leave that realm. When finished, I'll post the second part on AO3 and hope to get some readers for feedback. This isn't an entirely amateur project, as I'm actually a screenwriting student with an AA in film production. I was working on my BFA in screenwriting when I got really sick and financially broke and had to drop out. Silent Hill has always been a huge inspiration and I felt giving it my time in creativity was the best way I could pay it back, so to speak. I've written a short script which I shared on here before. I was working on another Silent Hill fan fiction told entirely in notes but that one is on hiatus as I juggle this script and three other original scripts (not fan fiction). I'm hoping that when I'm finished with this second part, there would be some interest from readers in knowing how the story ends. Again, I just wanted to express and share my enthusiasm as I revisit and revise this second and final part. I tried my best to keep up with the game's lore while being original. It's not the monster fest Silent Hill Revelations was. I took Walter's story very seriously and expanded on it. There are heavy and delicate themes I covered. I made some character decisions I felt wouldn't be too popular with purists but felt were highly appropriate for the story I wanted to tell. I incorporated elements from all over the Silent Hill universes, including PT, to make what I find to be a beautiful beast. I'll share the link to my AO3 page. There you can find the first part and the short script for my other Silent Hill fan fiction. If I could accomplish anything with my stories it would be to inspire filmmakers to take video game adaptations and their respective plots seriously, as with any other kind of adaptation or derivative. I feel video games are treated as a teenage fantasy more than an actual foundation for thought provoking cinema. I'm not saying my story is great, but, at risk of sounding pompous and egotistical, I feel it's deeper than either of the Silent Hill films. I thank you for your time in reading this post. I know it's long. But thank you for allowing me to share my enthusiasm and dreams. [link] [comments]

What are the Silent Hill-inspired horror-related things you have done? Posted: 28 Apr 2020 07:18 AM PDT Silent Hill holds a special place in my childhood. Besides reminding me of the innocent and carefree days of playing video games as a kid, it solidified my love for the horror genre. Like the rest of you, I was in awe at the story and atmosphere Silent Hill is able to create. After beating the games, I wanted something more: to really experience some of the stuff that Harry and James went through. So, I ended up venturing into spooky places that I saw in the games. Here is one Silent Hill-inspired adventure I went on years ago. I just got into high-school when I first played Silent Hill 1. My friend's parents and mine would come home very late in the night. After reaching Midwich Elementary School in the game, we decided to put the controller down and sneak into a local middle-school - yes, an actual K-12 school! It must have been around 9 PM the moment we reached the place. Once there, we climbed over the locked metal-fence gate and into the courtyard. Everything from the buildings, trees, and other structures looked so spooky at night. The fact that we might encounter someone.. or something inside the school with every few steps we tread shot up my adrenaline. The cold, night wind hit my face as I maneuvered the place as sneakily as possible. The whooshing sound of the unfriendly wind only added to the chilling effect. I notice a sliver of light from the gap underneath a door. Thinking that someone might come out of the room at any second, my buddy and I quickly rushed to a big tree not so far from that room. Hearts palpitating, I whispered to him that if someone were to come out from that room, we would be in big trouble. He suggested that we get out of this place asap. But after a while, no one ever came out. So, we kept exploring. The other side of the school, where most of the rooms and cafeteria are located, is blocked by another fence too high to climb, at least from the courtyard. Calling an end to this frightful, not to mention, illegal, activity would have been a smart idea, but we weren't smart kids. We were on a Silent Hill-craze and determined to get to the other side. We came this far. There has to be another way in, I thought. After climbing out of the school, we walked further along its outside perimeter. I couldn't believe what I saw. There was a small spot of the fence that was detached from the ground. At this point, my partner in crime was reluctant to proceed and understandably so. The fence's defect was partly caused by the terrain of the ground. The fencing was structured right where a deep downward slope begins. This meant that once down there from the inside, we might not be able to climb back up the steep hill, let alone crawl back through the slit. The night was getting colder and potentially more dangerous. It reminded me of when Harry opened the clock-tower and entered into the Otherworld. And like Harry, we slithered through the small slit and entered the Otherworld School. Unfortunately my memory during this part is vague. After faltering down the hill, I recalled looking back to see the barely visible fence's slit shrouded in darkness, somewhat hidden behind trees and shrubs. The Otherworld School was made up of corridors more narrow and treacherous. It was darker here and a sense of claustrophobia was kicking in. The concentrated cluster of buildings meant more echo. Suppressed was the sound of the night wind. It gave in to the whispered conversation my friend and I were having, which noticeably became louder in narrower hallways. I don't remember whether I got to the cafeteria or not. The restrooms might or might not have been locked and inaccessible. We probably didn't check out the teachers' offices. And definitely did not fight a giant, deformed lizard. I don't even remember how we got out through the fence, how we walked home, or what we did after that. Although my recollection here was blurry, my motive for the venture was not. I did it because I wanted to stimulate Silent Hill, a psychological horror game that is so powerful and timeless. So my question is do you have a Silent Hill-inspired horror adventure? Was it dangerous? I'd love to hear your stories. PS: Sorry for the long post. It's quarantine time and I haven't got anything to do all night. [link] [comments]
SH3 (PC) in widescreen or 4:3? Posted: 28 Apr 2020 06:06 PM PDT So yeah I kind of made a similar post about this a while ago, but I've actually got this game running properly now so wanted to ask something a bit more specific. Playing SH3 in widescreen/16:9 means you see Heather kind of walk through a part of the wall on the right and freeze for a second in an early cutscene. It's not a HUGE deal, but a bit distracting. Does that kind of thing happen often? I'd rather play in widescreen, but if I'm gonna be seeing weird stuff the whole time I'll probably just go with 4:3. EDIT: Lmao, love how I install the sound fix and now it tells me the game isn't installed properly. You really couldn't just drop a barebones modern port and save people the trouble, huh Konami... Posted: 28 Apr 2020 12:42 PM PDT Hey! I want to show my gf SH2 but we can't play it. So, do you have any video recommendation for a all cutscenes sh2 video. Like, one you think is the best. Thanks all! [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Apr 2020 02:53 AM PDT So...I don't really know Silent Hill. I played the first one, but never finished it, and I think I watched someone play some of the second one. So knowing I know nothing about it, I have one question: What happens if someone who doesn't have an insanely fucked up past, and a broken soul wanders into Silent Hill? Does it manifest a shitty tourist town, or like...bum fucked nowhere America? What if you're the shit for that matter? Like, you're just an awesome person with nothing but awesome shit in your past. Does Silent Hill manifest big titty strippers and free money all around you? I assume there's some rule or something that you have to be a fucked up person to go there, but as I've had it explained, Silent Hill is an actual geographical location in the world of the games, so I can't help but wonder this. Silent Hill 3 PC Widescreen Fix problem Posted: 28 Apr 2020 02:52 PM PDT Hi, So I'm running SH3 with the Widescreen Fix from here. https://thirteenag.github.io/wfp#sh3 For the most part it's OK, except occasionally it runs at a near-locked 20fps which requires a restart (this often happens if I alt+tab with it running), and every once in a while the game gets stuck on a red and black loading screen when I start a new game (when it works properly you only see it for half a second). Pic: https://i.ibb.co/tKmsCs6/Untitled.png Hopefully that won't be a problem anymore when I can actually progress past the intro and stop testing stuff. If nobody knows a fix for those issues I can probably live with them - my main concern is how Heather freezes on the right side of the screen after walking out of Happy Burger during an early cutscene, due to the widescreen view I guess. This will probably happen throughout the game, so is there any way to fix this other than setting ReduceCutsceneFOV to 1? It zooms in way too much. EDIT: This is where she gets stuck in the cutscene. https://i.ibb.co/nL204zb/Untitled.png [link] [comments]

Silent Hill 3 on PS2. Why is it so damn expensive? Posted: 27 Apr 2020 11:36 PM PDT I was able to get a copy of Silent Hill 2 for about $30 a year or two back and saw listings for Silent Hill 3 around that same price. Unfortunately, I didn't have the money then, so I wasn't able to pick it up then. I figured the price would stay roughly the same over time, but I was looking on ebay after finishing Silent Hill 2 a few days ago and all the listings I've seen are well over $40, sometimes even past $100 just to get a copy with the manual included. Anyone here know why it's so hard to get at a good price these days? Edit: for my pals in the PAL region, I'm talking about copies for the North American region. Sorry for the confusion, and I'm totally jealous of you guys. [link] [comments]
