Expanding upon my previous post, this should be our beginning to our movement pushing for a new SH game

If you were to direct a new entry in the Silent Hill franchise, what direction would you go with?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 09:05 AM PST

Would you go the Sh1/Sh3 route that delved into the power of the town and dealt with the occult? Or would you go the psychological route of Sh2? Maybe you'd delve a little into the experimental side of Sh4?

    Silent hill-ish

Does the Silent Hill 1-2 Vinyls get released sometimes?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 01:03 PM PST

I ordered the 1st one on Amazon because it's the cheapest for me in Europe, but the 2nd isn't available, and I want to avoid scalpers on ebay Did it ever got a re-release in the recent past? Do you think it's going to get re-released? Or IS there a site where I can buy it without paying a ton for shipping to Europe? Thank you

If the Sonic fandom could do it, so can we

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 03:07 AM PST

Recently, as you know, the Sonic fandom pushed to have the Sonic design changed for the live action film, and succeeded. Though, Konami IS Konami, between the Sonic design change and rumors of pachinkos being made illegal and Konami supposedly falling back to games, this could be a good opportunity to push Konami into making a GOOD Silent Hill game that ISN'T a shameful cash-grab. I know a lot of the fandom has given up hope, but we have an opportunity to push for at least ONE decent Silent Hill game for the first time in YEARS. Don't you guys WANT that? If there's even a SMALL possibility of getting that for us, then we HAVE to try. If we don't, we'll miss this chance and we may never get another. I'm sure you guys are at least SLIGHTLY tired of playing the same old Silent Hill games and not getting any new ones. Konami have been knocked down, this is a perfect window for us to input our influence. This is a fight with a chance to win, and though we're not sure how great of a chance it is, I'm willing to take that jump. But I don't want to take that jump alone. I only became a SH fan recently, and have only beaten 2 and gotten pretty far in 3, but I've already seen one of my favorite Konami franchises die, I don't want another one to do the same, and Silent Hill has a chance to keep living, especially now...

I've been looking for a way of play silent hill 2 on pc and all I've found so far is the silent hill 2 enhanced version which requires a running copy. Would some one point me in the right direction or better yet take 5 minutes to pm me and send their copy?

My thoughts on SH4 as someone who used to hate it and avoided playing it till now [spoilers]

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 10:45 AM PST

So after being a SH fan for a decade now, I've finally fully completed SH4 and seen all the endings.

I was NOT a fan of this game at first, so it took a while to get into it, but overall it grew on me. Here's some of my impressions after playing all the other games in the series:

First of all the graphics: For me I feel like things were really bipolar in the visual department. Sure Henry's apartment looked like it was molded out of 144p diarrhea texture, but then another minute you get smacked with an insanely detailed area. One of which was Walter's body in the back of the apartment. Hot damn, it was so well done and detailed that I spent 5min just looking at it. The devs put so much work into that body that it looked straight outta RE7. And Cynthia's ghost with the hair shadow was neat as well.

The characters were a mixed bag. Although I did not like Henry too much. He had absolutely no backstory or unveiling/character development of any sort. Just an empty shell of a character which was really disappointing. Cynthia is dying and he monotonely asks "are you okay?" He barely has any dialogue and has practically zero emotions. His voice acting was barebones as hell too, sounds like his VA woke up half asleep at 4am to record his lines.

Other characters were pretty good. Walter was unique and creepy. Eileen and Frank were really good fleshed out characters with top notch voice acting and realistic reactions to things.

Some cheesy Resident Evil tier dialogue though. Like Jasper for instance... "I'm soooooo thirsty. Ughhhhhh chocolate... UGHHHHHHHH CHHHHHOCOLATTEEEEEEE!!!" This had got to be the only time I literally burst put laughing at a SH game. And the ghost of that fat dude in the water world making all kinds of PG13 horror movie ghosty noises was also really cringey.

Next off is the enemies, I gotta say these were the scariest enemies in a SH game for me. I know some people prefer the psychologically influenced SH2 monsters, but for me I absolutely loved the gorey grotesque beasts this game had. Walking across a corner to find a twin victim pointing at you was really unsettling. And the first time I saw one of those dead patient things walk towards me I nearly shit my pants.

On the note of enemies, as annoying as Walter was I feel like he created a good tension. He's the one thing that prevented you from feeling like an overpowered genocidal maniac since you could never really kill him. Not knowing when he'd show up to fuck your shit up next made the game more survivally I guess lol.

The weapons... This was the most disappointing aspect of SH4 for me. I feel like the whole game I was waiting for a solid weapon. Yeah the revolver was good, but that's just one of those boss-only weapons. Like not even a shotgun??? Instead we got a whole collection of golf clubs. Jesus christ theres like 12 different varieties of these fucking things. And walking into that room with all the guns from SH3 was a huge taunt.

Visual horror was pretty good. There were for sure some good old mindfuckery imagery, especially the gaint Eileen head room.

Gameplay mechanics and enemies could be frustrating. The sword of obedience strategy was pretty cool I gotta admit, but the constant ghosties got a bit annoying. And FUCK those stupid escalator minigames with the wall monsters, worst part of SH4. But I loved how you could still walk around and do your thing while other characters were talking, that to me was really next-gen and cool.

The puzzles were okay, some were rather dumb, like how you need to attach all the limbs to the dummy, when at the end of the day a simple kick would've had the bastard rolling off the ledge in the exact same way. And what was up with that water world puzzle? An institute where all the floors need to be rotated to dispose of dead bodies by dropping them down large holes? Its frankly pretty stupid and beyond abstract.

The apartment haunting were really original and cool to see, you never knew what would go wrong next and it made you want to see all the possible hauntings. Exorcising them may have been a chore and the health draining was some goddamn bullshit, but overall it was a nice horror concept that gave the game something unique.

The second portion of the game being an escort mission is also tedious with Eileen running at 0.5 speed, but not too bad considering you could just dump her ass in a safe room most of the time. Also, nice that she couldn't really die, presuming you didn't care about getting a bad ending.

Which leads me to the endings... I was unfortunately extremely disappointed with the ending. All these characters and story content made it seem set for one epic finale but it just never happened. In the end you drop down the hole, kill the boss and save Eileen (canonically) in 10 words or less. I feel like It was lacking the big emotional finish that 2 & 3 had. Even with the best ending it's still rather bland.

Overall I have to say my favorite portion of the game was strangely enough the little Battle Royale that happens at the end of the water world second visit. Consisting of you, Eileen, and about 10 twin victims in a huge room. It was oddly satisfying and hilarious to see one big monster brawl with so much going on.

Sorry for the choppiness of my writing, I tried to condense it so it's not too much of a tidal wave of text haha. Let me know what you guys think about any part of the game as well!

This sub is starting to become awful

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 06:12 AM PST

Half of this sub now is just pictures of foggy streets or game boxes, noob questions that could be answered by using Google, posers cosplaying as the crappy movie Pyramid Head and annoying Kojima worshippers.

I used to love this sub and visited it daily long before making a Reddit account, but now it just starts pissing me off. Shame, because I'm not the only one who thinks this way.

SH2 - Whisper in room 209 on HD collection?

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 11:46 PM PST

    Hey everyone,

I'm sorry if this has been discussed before, but I wasn't able to find any answers regarding the HD collection. I just discovered that when you enter room 209 in the apartments, there is a whisper? Ive heard it's random, but has anyone ever heard it in the HD collection? I've never experienced it in my play throughs.

[SH1] Did I screw up by choosing the HARD difficulty since it's my first time playing the game?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 11:00 AM PST

Please don't spoil the game for me. I choose Hard because I thought it would make the game more "scarier" and "creepier". Having the lack of resources and such. What I ended up with is getting a bit angry than enjoying the game. Currently I finished the clocktower puzzle at the school and got to the triangle looking symbol at the yard.

The thing that mostly annoyed me up to this part (and will still probably annoy me) is that when I can't dodge those little creature things. Like seriously, it's difficult to dodge them. I struggled so much in those school hallways. I especially love it when two of them are at a door that I need to go through... I just keep wasting my meds because they catch me. Plus the camera confuses me because of the panic. I had over 6 health dirnks and over 6 medkits. Now i have just one medkit. And let me guess, the pistol and melee weapons are mostly useless on hard. And yes, I am aware these types of games don't revolve around combat. It's the escape that matters the most.

From what I read, I assume that Normal has less enemies than Hard, right? Are there any boss battles later in the game? Is it worth to restart the game on Normal? Did I make a really dumb mistake?
