Which philosophical movements can be found in Silent Hill saga?

    Posted: 25 Feb 2020 10:53 AM PST

Hi! I´m doing my final degree project and turns out I can do it about the Silent Hill games, analyzing it´s influences (like David Lynch), references (like Stephen King´s books or Jacob´s Ladder) and it´s philosophies.

About the philosophies, the ones that pop up in my mind are the Existentialism (Identity crisis of James and Alessa, among others), Fatalism (Harry and Heather condemned to repeat the history, just like James doing his crime, or in some way, Walter Sullivan killing) and Nihilism (principally in Silent Hill 4, also James too).

If you can help me and think about philosophical movements that can be extracted from the saga and why, it would mean a lot to me.

    Thanks!

Silent Hill 3 didn't scare me!

    Posted: 25 Feb 2020 08:51 AM PST

So first of all, this is the first I play a Silent Hill game, I'm just at the start of SH3. I arrived to the mall level and the game didn't scare me at all, it was pretty cool. A few days ago, I was looking for a scary game on forums and everyone said that the scariest games were SH4 and SH3, so I picked a PC version of SH3 "because I saw the video with the most terrifying place on SH3, and I love it! ". So if someone is in the same situation, please reply!

Anyone else find the whole character motivation of sh 1 and 2 a little poetic

    Posted: 24 Feb 2020 09:59 PM PST

When playing sh1 and 2 i kinda found the whole motivation of your character kinda poetic and frankly a bit meaningful. Just to know that your character will go through hell and highwater just for one person. And honestly i think thats a good inspiration for me that no matter how bad the situation nothing should stop you. Hope this makes someone feel better and hope those new to silent hill the best of luck
