Anyone remember QueenOfHeadless's "Let's Analyze Silent Hill 2" series?

    Posted: 19 Mar 2020 11:48 AM PDT

It was a great series with a lot of incredible care and derail put into the analysis, but unfortunately she made the videos all private a few years ago. I believe she became a teacher and didn't want her students finding the videos. Does anyone know a way I can watch these videos still? Some sort of archive?

This quarantine got me feeling like Henery from The Room.

Might fire it up but it may feel " too real".

Side note, has anyone played 4 on PC (is that possible)?

Some interesting mods could be made reflecting the current world we live in.

SH2 (PS2) with Webman on CFW PS3 emulation accuracy.

    Posted: 19 Mar 2020 09:01 AM PDT

Does anyone have any experience playing this game multiple times on a PS3, dumped from the ps2 disc, from it's harddrive?

I want to record footage of the game, and I can play thru ps2 with component to hdmi cheapo adapter, or I can play it on my PS3 with an hdmi splitter. Either way it will be going into my el gato.

I am trying to avoid getting footage with graphical errors, but at the same time, the ps3 offers way easier recording.

I figured I'd post this here rather than an emulator or cfw forum because I'm really only interested in SH2-4 running perfectly.

    thanks ahead,

Henry and Eileen are in love or are they just friends?

    Posted: 19 Mar 2020 03:41 PM PDT

There are rumors that the game's writers said their intention is that they were just friends.

Metatron symbols between the lake and the park

    Posted: 19 Mar 2020 02:15 AM PDT

Hello everyone! I am not a big fun of Silent Hill universe unfortunatly. Yet I'm definitely imressed with setting and atmosphere of this games. I am a part of ARG solving community, and ARG we're into suddenly revealed an reference to SH universe: "Metatron symbols between the lake and the park". We suppose there is something important in this place and we suppose this is reference to Silent Hill 2. So, I have no better place to ask, except fellow redditors here: How far this place from start of the playthrough? Does anyohe have save files from around this place? Maybe there is something obvious in this place that you can tell me? Any tips can help! Thank you!

Silent Hill conceptually are one of two things: either cult-based stories or the "protagonist with dark past" stories.

    Posted: 19 Mar 2020 03:15 AM PDT

With that being said. And with people furiously not giving a shit about the cult and it's secretive practises... Why are people so giddy to receive another Silent Hill game, exactly ? So that once it starts they could expect to discover some dark secret of the protagonist from his perspective ?

I just genuinely don't get why there are people who want a new Silent Hill game. Other then nostalgia, ofcourse.

These constant posts about Resident Evil still being on top of it's game, while Silent Hill is rotting in the gutter, how tragic it all is, yada-yada-yada... Resident Evil is of the most simplistic, blatant and one-dimensional franchises in gaming history - it's literally just a story after story of an outbreak happening, some new virus breaking out and infecting a bunch of people, but it's in this setting now. And that is it. They are fun and brainless, start shattering into pieces once you apply any kind of logic to the concept of the world where B.O.W.s are regarded as better means of warfare then a concept of a simple giant bomb, which is INFINITELY less problematic to deal with.

Silent Hill, on the other hand, is this humongous amalgamation of top-tier horror inspirations spanning from 1960's Japanese horror cinema all up to high-concept horror/mystery/fantasy works of Sagan, Lynch, King and Matheson and much more... It's so fucking big and so complex, some might even say that it's too great for it's own good. As in you can't just stamp it out like you can Resident Evil. The mood-establishing sound design should be superb, the environments should be unique and hold minimum reused props, the story concept should always be something different not to become easily predictable, the puzzles should very distantly deal with subjects of the game's story in a manner that deepens the mood's already dominantly overpowering grasp on the player, the gruesome imagery should be presented in a way that is much less graphic, cleverly concealed to provoke imagination instead of satisfying it (Hello, Homecoming's dad sawn in half). All of that in complex.

You can't just do that like you can plan out the usual Resident Evil-y affair of finding objects, managing inventory space, planning out ammo and enemy placements, location shortcuts, all of that. It's so much less hard to do. Infinitely easier. Thus those games get made to this day. It doesn't take much brainmatter or inspirational material, really. Hell, if CAPCOM puts out a Mario Maker styled Resident Evil game I can bet my life - there will be some amazingly interesting and well-put-together campaigns. Not going to fly with Silent Hill. Ever. You can't just build a good Silent Hill campaign out of reusable props or roguelike elements and hope it just clicks (Hello, Book of Memories).

And seeing how Silent Hill, as a series, already reached it's conceptual height, while unlike Resident Evil, being in constant need to be something different each consecutive game in order to not become predictable and to keep on being animalistically disturbing, all while keeping the player in a state of uncertainty at least throught the first playthrough... WHILE all it is left with is a constant obsession of each consecutive developer after Team Silent to retell what is basically a cardboard copy of SH2, which effectively devalues it...

Why do you, people who so seemingly crave for another one, want another Silent Hill game ? Do you really think that Kojima or whoever else will be capable of delivering something better then that which was accomplished by the original team ? Or are you just simply craving that mood high ? That feeling of presence of absence, that entrapment in wide open space, that "what?!" factor of a dog's head lying near a basketball ring ?

I'm just trying to figure out if you seriously want Silent Hill back or are just what is basically feeling-junkies. Because from all I personally read of people seemingly wanting another game... it doesn't strike me as a group of people wanting an authentic Silent Hill game. It feels like a group of people asking for something they half-understand at best and won't be able to recognize as being fake if it is. And it makes me personally angry, because I hate the idea of seeing this brilliant series (1-4) suffering over the junky-like "gimme more" attitude of it's own fanbase and people who just claim to be fans.
