    Silent Hill Movies As Games.

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 06:36 PM PDT

I just was commenting on a poll and it got me thinking. To me the first movie was interesting on first watch, but I was younger and saw it through the lens of a non game fan. Now having played most of the games and understanding more of what makes the franchise so good, I'm curious if the movie plots would make better games. In my opinion I think the earlier games definitely have some silly campy antics but the style and design and atmosphere just make it so unique. Even today when nothing usually scares me, replaying 1 and 2 can get creepy. My main point is, if they took the movies plot, beat for beat and made it into an early style game, do you think it would work better as a medium than the movies?

Just playing SH1 and it's weird

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 11:27 AM PDT

Yesterday I read here a post how someone loves SH1 and playing SH2 and he doesn't like it, because it's different.

I am in the exact opposite situation. I finished SH2 and it's a masterpiece. Now I started playing SH1 and it's not like it's a bad game, but it's definitely weird.

First, what is the kitchen knife and pipe for? The flying monsters and dogs is absolutely impossible to hurt with these and you have to use the gun.

But in the same time you don't want to do it, because you feel like you should better save ammo for later. So in my cases I just run through the city ignoring all monsters. Which is kinda dissapointing, because originally I was looking forward to explore the city like I in SH2.

Also why from the very beginning the monsters feel like mid-tier enemies, and not lower-tier like in SH2? Am I suppose to kill these or it's just endless wasting my ammo?

Anyway I am just on the beginning of the school. So hope it gets better now :)

Best way to play Silent Hill 3 in 2020 on PC

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 01:09 PM PDT

It seems that when it comes to play Silent Hill 2 on modern pc the answer is easy - Silent Hill 2 Enhanced Edition and you virtually you play the game at its best.

But for SH3 it seems there are a variety of different mods and the answer is not that universal.

    What is your recommendation?

What's the most important element in a Silent Hill game?

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 12:05 PM PDT

Do you know why, in Silent Hill 3, Claudia said, basically, "Happy people can be so cruel, therefore, sympathy can be born from pain and suffering"?

And what does it relate to creating a perfect paradise?

Had an idea for a possible Silent Hill game, and wanted to share it

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 08:58 AM PDT

I've thought about how I'd make my own Silent Hill game if I had the chance.

My idea would star an average guy who accidentally wanders into Silent Hill; a normal person who's not crazy, never killed anyone nor has a plot twist about amnesia or fake memories. It's just a normal guy who's forced to face his worst fears, traumas and inner demons. There's no Pyramid Head looking to punish him, only himself and the manifestation of his worst fears.

Silent Hill is its own master now, bringing people to punish or to help them overcome their problems. The town is empty, nobody is in charge of it. It's shaped accordingly for him, and nobody pulls the strings this time. The Order is no more, there's no other cults or weird rituals going on in the background.

The main character is a person whoprefers to live in their own fantasy world where they can be a hero, where everything goes right for them. This is bad for them, because they can't face reality and choose to barricade themselves inside their own fantasy world rather than own up to the hardships of life.

The town would manifest a person for them, a woman who would help him along the way and at the same time need to be helped. This would play into the themes of how the main character desperately wants to be a hero, a knight in shining armor who wants to rescue a princess who will love him, like countless fairytales.

The dynamic would be that they need to help each other instead of one of them always relying on the other. The woman could die, be it due to accidents, monster attacks or because the main character chooses to sacrifice her to escape monsters or puzzle rooms.

She would always come back to life as if nothing happened and somehow managed to escape unscathed. No matter how many times this happens, she would act as if she had no memory of having died and thinking the main character saved her from the danger.

The town would also pull other people, who would have problems trying to face their own fears and demons. People who would be unable to fight, escape or simply refuse any help, thinking they can do everything by themselves. Some of them would die because they refuse the help of anyone else, dooming themselves in the process.

Every time the main character meets another person, their surroundings would change to that of the other person, how they see their own version of Silent Hill and even the monsters would be replaced by that person's own fears and traumas.

There would be a Good and Bad ending based on the main character's actions when dealing with his partner, the other people, killing monsters and how they solve the puzzles. The puzzles would often have two ways of solving them: a quick way which would end in some horrible act (Killing other people trapped by the puzzles, leaving his partner to die, killing innocent animals) or a long way where everyone survives unscathed (finding codes, solving riddles, finding a way to save the other people he meets from traps).

The Good ending ends with the main character leaving Silent Hill and trying to bring the woman with him, but she would refuse because she's a manifestation of the town, and her only role was to teach him lessons like how you can't save yourself alone, that it's never wrong to ask for help, that you can't save everyone, and not everyone wants to be saved. Understanding this, he would leave alone but stronger, the fog lifting off as the sun starts to shine again.

The Bad Ending would have the main character choose to stay, choosing this "fiction" by becoming the ruler of the town to continue fullfilling his own fantasies. Everything would look bright and cheerful before a siren started to sound, everything reverted back to rust, decay and blood. The woman would direct the monsters at him, and she would walk away as the main character is slowly surrounded by them before fading to black, leaving his fate uncertain.

The UFO ending would have the main character and the woman see a UFO land in Silent Hill as aliens attack the town. Seeing this, they both transform into superheroes and summon a giant robot to attack the aliens. The UFO would fly away and they would follow it into space by riding the robot, slicing the ship with a sword beam before flying off to find the aliens' planet to bring peace to the galaxy.

I don't want a remake of Silent Hill ... I want SILENT HILLS, made by Kojima. All I do is think about it.

The other night I dreamed that someone was knocking on the door. I checked through the peephole and saw... myself! I saw myself who, on the other side, was looking through the peephole. I didn't open the door. I don't remember anything else.

I really miss the talking bag... we were friends. Now I am alone.

    Give me back Silent Hills.

Xbox control configuration issue in "Silent Hill 4"

Xbox control configuration issue in "Silent Hill 4"

Hello guys, I have an Xbox One controller that I have used to play SH2 and SH3.

To play SH2 there was no problem with the analogs, since the new"Enhanced Edition" had everything configured. And also on the webpage of the mod came an image of how to configure manually, which is the following:

suggested controller layout for Silent Hill 2 displayed on an Xbox One controller.

To configure the control for SH3 I had to download "XInputPlus" and follow the instructions that are in https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Silent_Hill_3 , this fixed the movement of the analogs only (for SH2 this was not necessary because it came already inside all the things that had to be downloaded) and inside of the game I had to configure the buttons manually remembering what SH2 were like (and thanks to the same image above) this is not explained on ANY SIDE OF THE INTERNET.

Now with SH4 I did the same, I have installed the program "XInputPlus" and fixed the problem of the analogs, but within the game I have to do the manual configuration of the buttons, the problem is the following:

SH4 has very different controls from the previous ones, in SH2 and SH3 they were practically identical. I don't know how to configure the controls because I have never played the game on PS2 and I can't think either, in addition to the fact that it has many options, on the internet there is NOTHING ABOUT THIS, THERE ARE ONLY EXPLANATIONS OF HOW TO FIX THE ANALOGS.

Attached here below what appears in the game options, I need someone who knows the PS2 controls and tell me to configure them according to the Xbox control.

    Button Config 1/3

    Button Config 2/3

    Button Config 3/3

I hope you can help me and this post will be visible after being searched on Google, this way we can help all the people who have had this problem. I said again: There is nothing on the internet about this, for SH3 I had to manage by myself. Thx guys!!

    P.S.: Sorry for my english
