Should Silent hill 1 be remastered?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 10:04 AM PDT

We are living in the age of the remaster and now that Resident evil has received 2 successful games, is it time Silent hill receives the same treatment? I'm in two minds about it as on the one hand, Silent hill 1 in the same quality as RE 2 would be a dream come true but on the other hand, I can see them removing locations like RE3 did, and another issue that I could see likely happening is it feeling like the game takes place in 2020 rather than an unspecified year like the original, that really added to the horror in my opinion. I would be interested to see what you think.

I think the "In Water" ending is the real ending for SH2

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 08:40 PM PDT

Given what happens to all the other characters and all the background information for James, it all makes a lot of sense. The other endings either have this unfitting optimism or wouldn't actually work in real terms.

    That's just my opinion though.

    Wishlist

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 07:03 PM PDT

Okay so I got too excited for these rumours about soft reboots, and two new games, and sony wanting to buy the franchise etc. all of which is probably just that: rumours that will never come to be.

Still, I wonder if you fellow fans have any dreams or ideas of what the new game/s should be about? What type of story line, characters would you like to see? Are there any loose ends from the previous games you'd like to see further explored? Perhaps some returning characters?

The og games took a lot of inspiration from films and literature, so maybe there's some references, not used before in the series, that could work for silent hill?

    Let's share our fantasies <3

Abstract Daddy monster can run away?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 06:42 PM PDT

In the hotel there's abstract daddy monsters wandering about. I usually get them with the great knife but this time I thought I'd just use the shotgun. I come to the 2nd floor hallway with two of of them, kill the first one with two shotgun blasts, then suddenly the second one further away spins right around and walks away in the opposite direction. It kept going to the end of the hallway. It only attempted to come attack me again if I shot at it.

Is this normal behavior for this enemy? Or is this a coincidence? Like if the monster couldn't walk past the first one, so it just goes the other way? Seemed odd to me that it did that right as the first one died.

    Serious question about SH4

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 06:05 PM PDT

I need answers from the addicts. Is SH4 endings prerendered videos or it's real time cutscenes? Among all platforms.

Cuz I found cutscenes in the game files.

    Perfection

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 09:42 PM PDT

Why did Silent Hill 2 do it's own thing both narratively and tonally? It feels so disconnected from the others (not a critique. Silent Hill 2 is my favorite game of the series and one of my favorite games of all time)

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 10:59 PM PDT

Silent Hill 1 and 3 are directly connected with each other. Silent Hill 4 wasn't originally a SH game, so that doesn't really need explanation. But even with the narrative differences, tonally, SH4 is a Silent Hill game through and through.

But Silent Hill 2 has almost no connections or even references to the first game. Homecoming has Pyramid Head but other than that, the later games don't even reference Silent Hill 2. It's also not really even scary. It's more unnerving and depressing, whereas every other Silent Hill game is viscerally scary and grotesque.

SH2 is like an anomaly in the original trilogy. It also seems to change the rules a bit. In Silent Hill 1 and 3, the town was overrun with horrible monsters because of some cult ritual shit.

Silent Hill 2 just kinda acts like the town itself is the monster. The interactions of the characters were made to be intentionally strange and uncomfortable. Each character has their own personal hell they needed to confront. The ones that failed to grow were consumed by the town. Anyone know why this is?

Should I play Silent Hill 2?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 11:32 AM PDT

Gameplay wise, it doesn't really look very scary. The voice acting is bad and the fixed camera looks outdated as well. But I really like the aesthetic and overall feel of the gameplay videos and trailers. Should I try this game?

    Silent Hill 4 Review

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 05:52 AM PDT

It has something of a reputation for not being "as good" as the first three games.

I know that for me personally it has put me off a little bit from playing it.

I always enjoy the atmosphere in Silent Hill games and there is plenty of that here. I do feel that this game becomes way too stressfull after the halfway point, especially near the end. To the point where I sometimes needed a walkthrough. I do feel that this is a little to it's detriment because it didn't allow me to soak in the atmosphere as much as I would have liked.

I definitely recommend this game to people who love this series, and haven't played this one yet.
