Need silent hill veteran opinion Posted: 11 Apr 2020 10:11 AM PDT As someone who in the last year gained the strength to get through re7 and am now hungry for survival horror any way i can get it, i want to play silent hill since i've never picked it up. Is the hd collection really that bad, i know the fog is what's ruined but how else am i supposed to play it since it's proving hard to find a copy online and i don't know if i want to buy a ps original just for this, help! Posted: 11 Apr 2020 08:09 AM PDT I got a PS3 to play all those games that I stored after the one I had broke. Among those was the SH HD Collection. I played again and fought the glitches, got all the endings except for the Dog one, now here's why: When I leave Rosewater Park and go to the place next to Jack's Inn so I can pick up the key, the dog house isn't there, there's just a shadow on the ground in the place where it should be. Now, I thought "This is HD Collection. Things happen" and loaded my last save (thankfully I had the one before the first battle with Pyramid Head) and tried again. The shadow again. So I tried again, and again, and again. And there is no way what the dog key will show up. Did anyone else had this problem? How did you solve it? Am I doomed to never see that doggy on my game? Oh another thing: I used the same disk on my old PS3 and in that one I had all the endings so I have no idea why it doesn't work now. Thanks guys! [link] [comments]
Silent Hill 2 is Dark. Literally. Posted: 10 Apr 2020 11:43 PM PDT Hi everyone! First post here. I'm pretty new to the series and I've only played through 1 and 2 so far. One thing I've been having a lot of trouble with is how dark the game is (in terms of visibility) and I'm inclined to think it's not actually the game, but my setup. I'm playing with a ps2 on a new 4k smart TV. I've seen youtube videos where the game looks much clearer (I can't even see enemies, doors etc. Sometimes) I'm also trying to avoid playing the HD version of the game because I've heard it's not as good of an experience. Is the problem just as simple as the game isn't as bright when it's not being played on an older TV? P.S. My brightness settings are maxed out both in game and on the TV. Thanks :) [link] [comments]
Ultra High Resolution Silent Hill Images Posted: 11 Apr 2020 02:20 AM PDT Looking for any pictures. Fan artwork, screenshots from the games or movies. As long as it's very high resolution because I'm trying to print some posters at my local print shop :) [link] [comments]
Theory -- Angela not real, like Maria Posted: 10 Apr 2020 10:47 PM PDT Maria and Angela are both Christian/Latin origin names. It might sound too basic, but to the Japanese it might not be so heavy-handed. They're also both three syllables, and end on the same letter, which is quite strange. I guess in the cult games (1/3) there is more religious symbolism that might tie a bit into 2 but I can't be bothered to explain it in this. Maria - Mary, Mother of Jesus. Jesus can be a symbol for hope, rebirth, salvation. Therefore in the New Testament Mary's role can be said to be that of an ultimate creator; by itself or the concepts Jesus represents. Also note that the figure James was said to be a brother of Jesus, and his mother was Mary. Angela meanwhile, is of a more minor status, rather than Mary or Maria's direct status in resolving the plot, just as an angel is subservient in the hierarchy. [Incomplete] Maria represents the lack of hope or rebirth for James, keeping him in purgatory. Angela meanwhile, rekindles James' good nature and serves as the conduit for his rebirth and escape from Silent Hill. Maria and Angela are polar opposites. Maria has an exotic job; Angela a fast food job. Maria lusted after; Angela the opposite. One blonde, one black. Maria's personality more confident, sultry, extroverted, Angela timid, more asexual, schizoid. Angela casually walks off into the fire, quite strange. James meets Angela at the graveyard; representing negative emotions, Mary's deterioration and death. James meets Maria at the park; at a stage where things were good. Therefore -- Angela is meant to be the anti-Maria, representing the undesirable qualities in Mary. The Abstract Daddy boss actually seems to somewhat Mary on her deathbed; the diseased appearance and the bed, obviously. Given the sexual nature of the boss and its appearance, It's possible that James actually raped Mary on the bed and this is something that is so repressed that it only appears indirectly through Angela. Angela's 'daddy' could actually be -- James. Because of his actions, he created her in Silent Hill. She is looking for her mother, which is Mary. This theory just came out of my mind randomly, so it is a bit messy and unrefined but I think it could actually be more advanced. [link] [comments] |
