Posted: 04 May 2020 11:25 AM PDT A few days back I made a post here asking you guys if I should play Silent Hill 2 'despite the outdated graphics, fixed camera, bad voice acting'. And I am glad you guys advised me to play it. Truth be told, I would rank Silent Hill 2 up there with Bioshock as my all time favourite video game. Sure the visuals and control scheme are a bit outdated but I think it adds to the charm of the game. The best thing about it is its story. The game felt like a drag at first but as the story unfolded I got more and more invested in it. After the hospital level, I just couldn't stop playing. I also liked its music. It is very haunting and complements the game really well. I have honestly never felt so satisfied after completing a video game. That being said, I read some posts where about SH2 being the odd one out in the series. That does make me a wee bit less enthusiastic about SH1 but I guess I'll try it anyway. [link] [comments]

Original copies( PS1, NTSC) of Silent Hill are expensive!! Found a nice one, how’d I do?? Posted: 04 May 2020 05:01 PM PDT So I bought my brother a used copy of Silent Hill (PS1, NTSC) for about $95 for his bday. I browsed ebay for a while looking for a clean copy, and I saw a bunch around $75 that COULD be ok... most missing the manual/case/scratches/cracks.. you get the picture... and a few brand new ones for like $400 and I'm not rich yet lol. Has anyone got experience in playing PS2 Silent Hill games on a modern screen? Posted: 04 May 2020 04:55 PM PDT I'm thinking about connecting my PS2 up to my OLED tv but unfortunately it doesn't have the ports for connecting the cable, last year I bought a packapunch RGB scart cable to connect to my CRT but now I was wondering if anyone could recommend a way I can use all this and connect it to my modern television. I see hdmi adapters online where you connect the scart into the back which then sends it into a box with a hdmi cable inserted into the television and a power unit separately attached but I don't if this is a good idea when it comes to safety or in terms of loss of quality [link] [comments]

Silent Hill 2: Which ending do you think fits more? Posted: 04 May 2020 02:07 AM PDT for me, personally, I think the "Leave" ending makes the most sense. Before you fight the two pyramid heads, James says "I was weak, that's why I needed you. Neeeded someone to punish me for my sins... But that's all over now. I know the truth... Now it's time to end this", this feels like he finally realized what was going on and is now capable of moving on. I just find it hard to fit that piece of dialog into the other endings, since the other endings betray his realization. I honestly feel like people like the "In Water" ending more only because it's depressing. I feel like the "In Water" ending would fit more if James hadn't said that line. Edit: realized what's up with "in water" [link] [comments]
I just finished Silent Hill, it's so good! Posted: 03 May 2020 09:54 PM PDT I've been interested in the Silent Hill series for a while now, so I started by playing Silent Hill 2, which absolutely blew me away. I wanted to continue playing SH3, so I tried the first game to understand things much better. And holy shit, it's amazing. I expected the graphics to have aged, and they have, but the game is so immersive that I completely forgot that Harry only had like 30 polygons or something. The game's sound design is really great, and it looks really pretty, even for a PS1 game. The level design is great and I love how they managed to twist places with normal architecture into creepy mazes. It looks outdated, bit everything else hasn't aged a single bit. I'm playing through Silent Hill 3 right now, and it's a good game, but I'm honestly a bit disappointed because it hasn't lived up to SH1's quality so far. [link] [comments]
Objections Towards an Idea That SH Can Exist Without the Cult Posted: 04 May 2020 04:27 AM PDT I heard yesterday on the stream an idea about SH existing the way we know it without the Cult. While I absolutely agree the place itself has always had a spiritual power and it could help you to face your fears and deal with them, I deny the idea the Town could do it the way it does since Cheryl came back. The cult used the power of Silent Hill to summon the Devil and that Devil is the source of the Otherworld or the Nightmare, the Town only serves as a catalyst or a power source. As soon as you wipe out the Devil there is no Otherworld. The only reason why SH2 was possible is because there were two manifestation of the Devil in development: the one in Heather and Walter Sullivan. If someone is going to say something about the timeline, that's my answer: you don't follow a timeline in SH, instead you are following a narration. And the narration goes like this: SH1 - SH2 - SH3 - The Room. Our narrator, though isn't exactly reliable, tries to give us an idea that there is a connection between the demonic presence and events of SH2. The place is supposed to be under the influence of the Devil REGARDLESS of the timeline. After SH4 the narration cuts off and we are left in a foggy situation, you may say: was the demonic power banished/exhausted so the Otherworld disappeared sometime after the Room or the spiritual powers of the Town are corrupted so much the Devil is now a part of it, essentially? It may go either way, but here's my objection: if there is no Devil, a new game would end up like Downpour. Because Downpour tried to eliminate the cult. Did you really like the results of it? Did it seem like SH in any way? A new game without the cult would at t the very best be like any SH inspired game: someone is in denial, they face their inner demons and get some kind of resolution. You can even say it may turn into Alan Wake. And why wouldn't it? In both games the reality is twisted, it has something to do with the main character, monsters interact with the light and sound, it's state Maine. Thanks for patience and attention! Looking forward to your thoughts. [link] [comments]

Which is the definitive version of SH 2? PS2 or Original Xbox? Posted: 04 May 2020 12:51 AM PDT I always thought xbox version was the definitive one because better graphics, optimization, true 5.1 sound and console capabilites what not, but remember stumbling on a forumer saying Xbox version has 22050hz audio whereas PS2 has 44100 hz audio and better fog with spectograms as proof from extracted files of sounds. Anyone know the truth? [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 May 2020 04:22 AM PDT I have completed Silent Hill 1 in Hard mode again, after a lot of years. Omg. I couldn't remember being so difficult. I hated the respawning enemies in Otherworld Midwich. Also, it seems that when you are in the streets, there are unlimited enemies (especially in the Otherworld streets). Is this true? I tried killing a lot of enemies and it seems impossible without, at least x3 Bullet Adjust. [link] [comments] |
