    Just started silent hill 2

    Posted: 07 Jul 2020 02:51 PM PDT

I just started to play sh2 (my first sh game) and I'm loving it already! Amazing graphics for 10+ yrs old and really good storyline and characters. Im under 15 so I never really played the SH games when they came out but damn now I wish I did. My only problem is that Idk the important things to know about sh1, so if I could get some help it'd be appreciated.

    Silent Hill 1 MEMES

    Posted: 07 Jul 2020 08:31 AM PDT

I just received a collection of SILENT HILL 1, 2, 3, 4, and Zero soundtrack CDs on eBay, and realized they are bootlegs. Bought them for 79 US$. Still worth it?

Silent hill HD collection, silent hill 3?

    Posted: 07 Jul 2020 02:08 PM PDT

I just finished silent hill 2 on the HD collection (as it is my only option to play the old silent hill games as I don't have a PC or a ps2) and even though it had some.....flaws...to put it lightly, I still really enjoyed it and will prob go down as one one my favourite horror experiences. and am wandering if I should give silent hill 3 a go? I've heard that silent hill 3 HD is basically the catalyst for most of the collections hate with some FPS issues and the fact you can't use the original voices and more but is it still worth the play?

The "there was a hole here" text

    Posted: 07 Jul 2020 12:04 PM PDT

My theory about it is that in some stage of developing the game there indeed was a hole, but for some reason they had to replace it for gameplay purposes and some programmer just came up with that text which replaced the actual hole. Okay, nothing more to add, carry on.

My thoughts on Silent Hill Downpour (not great thoughts)

    Posted: 07 Jul 2020 10:00 AM PDT

I bought the game when it came out and I thought I beat it, but I saw it on my list of "all games" on Xbox during quarantine and figured I'd revisit it because of my love for the series. (Edit: checking my achievements when seeing the game, I had not, in fact, completed it way back when.) I played all of them, some multiple times, and I was really excited for the nostalgia.

I started it two nights ago and got to 20%. The game, visually and story wise, seems great straight off the rip, and the opening got me so hyped. Then the game started.

Combat is SO broken. Like, almost unplayable broken. It's almost more beneficial to just run all the fucking time. It's hard to run away, though, because the enemies are so much faster than you are. Gunplay is awful, too, way worse than the games that came before it. Some would say Devs wanted to give you panic and make you feel helpless, but it just feels innately broken. Even if there was a dash button, that might help without changing anything else. If I ran into two enemies at once, I just felt like the game was over. I would plow through five med packs in one back yard trying to climb a ladder.

The side quests also feel like they were put in the game to give you something to do besides missing all your pistol shots and failing miserably at swinging dumb weapons. They are cool story wise, but I feel like if I have any intentions of finishing this game, like the pleasure you get from watching a bad movie, I need to skip them because I'm going to feel like I spent too much time torturing myself.

Lastly, the inventory menu is quite possibly the worst of the series. It is terrible that you have to drop your melee to use your gun, since the guns are so terrible, that I feel like I'm going to be running around with a useless battle axe for 8 hours while I see where the story goes. I'm sure it will fall apart at the end, like most horror movie plots, but I'd like to see this installment's end, even if it's out of boredom.

Did anyone think this game was actually good? I wish there was a backwards compatible version of The Room on Xbox Marketplace. Would like to know people's thoughts. Feel free to post what you like about this game, and spoilers are fine with me, or feel free to rip on it, just like I did. I'm only two hours in, and I've switched my game mentality from a stroll through a familiar place to a speed run. I didn't even really hate Homecoming despite its many shortcomings. This is just pretty terrible from a gameplay standpoint. It is laughably bad given the other mediocre games that were out at its time.

If anyone is interested I made a Silent Hill vibe playlist. Most of the songs are Silent Hill OSTs, Progessive Rock, Trip-Hop, sad stuff in general.

    Silent Hill for wusses

    Posted: 07 Jul 2020 07:22 AM PDT

I wanted to ask you people for advice or sharing your experience to people like me who have a hard time with survival horror games. I've been wanting to get into Silent Hill games for a long long time (I even own SH 2-3-4 on PS2), but I can never get to play them because horror games make me feel quite unconfortable (although I can handle horror movies well). I'll usually play the first one or two hours and then go do something else becasue I can't take it (but weirdly enough I went half way through SH4 back in the day).

It makes me feel very frustrated because the design and stories of these games seem very appealing to me (and I absolutely love the soundtracks).

Need help with PS2 Edition of Silent Hill 2

    Posted: 07 Jul 2020 07:41 AM PDT

    Greetings,

Today I got a copy of the PS2 version of Silent Hill 2. But when I start the game it tells me to plug in my Dualshock 2 Controller although it already is. But it work with all other games just fine. So I plugged in another controller wich is broken but the game recognized it. Is there a difference between these controllers or something? They are both original Sony Controllers.
