Is Valtiel evil? How does he relate to other Silent Hill games? Posted: 10 Jul 2020 06:11 PM PDT So recently I discovered the world, lore and the games of Silent Hill, granted I'am not able to play any of them so I have been binge watching videos about the games, the lore, the story, the meaning and many more things. One thing however that I cannot understand for the life of me is Valtiel and his meaning in the games. Is he good? As we see him dragging Heather in the 3rd game. Is he secretly in previous games too? How does he relate to pyramid head? I would really appreciate these questions answered. Early thanks! [link] [comments]

James Sunderland and Harry Mason walk into a bar... Posted: 10 Jul 2020 03:23 PM PDT In the Silent Hill 3 end credits song 'Hometown', a few lines are spoken by a nameless man who believes Harry's story about the town of Silent Hill: "Through this fog, they came along. Dark creatures singing a terrible song. The rest of the bar laughed at him. Only I felt my hope grow dim. They found him dead, the very next day. No more stories from him, I heard them say. We blamed bad luck for his fate. Only I felt terror so great." I've always assumed this is James Sunderland speaking. Thoughts? [link] [comments]

It's taking 40, but I got Silent Hill Homecoming Posted: 10 Jul 2020 06:28 PM PDT People can have their issues with it, I'm not saying that they can't, but as of right now it's the closest to a proper modern Silent Hill game we have. Aesthetically it feels more like a Silent Hill game than Downpour, because downpour has aesthetics that make it feel like the love child of Bioshock and Alan Wake. Aesthetically Downpour feels as though midway through development, Konami said "make it a Silent Hill game". As for Homecoming, I feel more effort was put into making that game a Silent Hill game, and while it wails in comparison to the original 4, it's still the best post- Team Silent game in the series. Origins has a part at the end where Alessa is basically this omnipotent God [haven't seen all of the game tho], and that doesn't fit with the aesthetic of the series. While there is a number of supernatural occurances and a cult obsessed with birthing God, I honestly feel as though I prefer the lore to suggest that the town itself is behind the monsters and such, because the lore says it was built on a Native American burial ground. But Origins forces the suggestion that it's all a little girl or entity of sorts rather than it just being the town. However, if you count Homecoming as canon, cameo from the playable protag from Origins aside, Homecoming succeeds in making it feel like it's the town that's causing things, and continues to build upon the mystery of the town if added to the original 4. Downpour can do this as well, but aside from the fog, it doesn't do much to prove that it belongs to Silent Hill canon aesthetically. Downpour's enemies are too humanoid and lazily made because of it, while the devs of Homecoming actually put in effort and creativity for the creatures of Homecoming. Hell, they even go through lengths to reference horror films and such like "The Human Centipede". A lot of people says it plagiarized a certain horror film, and while I haven't seen that film, I still have reason to believe that that's an exaggerated statement. While I'm willing to agree that the opening segment especially replicates the film to a degree, I'm not willing to say it's like this the ENTIRE game. Homecoming does what the first four games do, taking inspiration from other sources of horror, though I'm willing to compromise with people that think they plagiarized the whole thing and say that they might have made their inspirations too obvious compared to the first 4 games. In conclusion, while I agree that the gameplay is bad, and it has its faults, Homecoming is a game worth playing at least one good time for a Silent Hill fan. I feel that maybe if someone wants to take baby steps before experiencing the true horrors of Silent Hill as a newcomer to the series they should definitely be pointed towards Homecoming. As far as loyalty to the series goes, Homecoming gets a 5/10 from me [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Jul 2020 05:37 PM PDT I'm replaying silent hill 2 and I'm finding some very interesting details about Laura she seems to me like Maria rather than a person a figment of the town while Maria is more personal to James Laura and Maria both don't have last known names Laura asks Eddie what did he do and why is he in town Laura seems to mock James. Saying "you didn't love Mary anyways " the first time they meet and she even know who James is the first time they meet eachother without meeting prior to silent hill also there's really no reason for Laura to be in silent hill rather than she is part of the town [link] [comments] |
