One of my favorite streamers is playing through the first Silent Hill, blind. I love watching people experience these sorts of games for the first time, especially when they have to figure out the puzzles in real time.

    Is myabandonware.com an ok place?

    Posted: 14 Oct 2020 06:14 PM PDT

So I have a strong urge to play both Silent Hill 2&3. However I don't have a large amount of money to buy a physical copy for the ps2 and I don't want to wait until Konami finally adds SH 2&3 on gog. That was until I came across my abandonware.com along with both games still technically classified as abandonware and free to download. I just want some people who's used the site in the past to tell me about the legitimatecy of the site.

Should I buy Silent Hill 4: the room one PS2?

    Posted: 14 Oct 2020 01:35 PM PDT

Recently I've been playing the Silent Hill 4 PC port on GOG, however around a year or two ago I bought original copies of SH2 and 3 for fairly decent prices in the original boxes. Played and loved them both. I decided to hold off on SH4 because I heard mixed stuff about the game. but now that I'm playing it and really enjoying, I kinda regret it! Seems like within a year they really inflated in prices and now jjgames nor GameStop has copies that you can order online! Is it worth it to spend money on an expensive copy or is the PC port a reasonable way to experience the game?

Getting ready for Halloween. Which of these bad boy gets you the most in a Halloween mood? I would say Silent Hill 4 because of the haunting music and some of the environments like the subway station, the apartment world and Room 302 itself.

looking for a pkg for the JP version of PT

    Posted: 14 Oct 2020 08:18 AM PDT

hi i am putting an apb for a pkg of the jp version of PT the creator of the suwi says if he can get it he can add it to it which will allow people in japan to redownload pt as well now obviously a hacked ps4 is required to extract the pkg

it doesn't need to be someone who got pt before it was removed the backup in my video will allow you to get it on your console

    https://youtu.be/-XOUhT_aYPw

i just need someone to use my backup, extract the pkgs for pt, & send a download link for said pkgs. to https://www.reddit.com/user/orangpelupa

Silent Hill 2 Enhanced Edition blocked

    Posted: 14 Oct 2020 10:08 AM PDT

Hi! I'm very excited to be playing Silent Hill 2 for the first time, after just finishing Silent Hill 1 one the ePSXe. I've seen the post that recommended getting a rom from myabandonware, and downloading the enhanced edition to optimize the experience, however, my NORTON security is blocking the enhanced edition website. Could anyone confirm whether the website and its downloads are (still) safe?

I played Origins for the second time ever, and for the first time in FOREVER... And I must say, this game is very overlooked.

This game is incredibly impressive for the PSP of all things. Say what you want about the PS2 version, but what Climax were able to accomplish on that little 2005 handheld was remarkable. Especially considering the development hell they had to go through. Apparently Climax Action (located in United Kingdom) were given the game by Climax Group (located in Los Angeles), while the game was half-way through development. The original game was some mediocre over-the-shoulder game with a barely working engine (there is some footage of it online). Climax Action ended up remaking the game from the ground up in an attempt to save it from what their American studio was planning, and Climax Action still had the original budget and timeframe Konami gave Climax Group (yikes).

And even considering all of that, I find this game quite remarkable.

There is no slow down at all and shadows cast off of monsters very similarly to how they do in the Team Silent games (on the PSP of all things!).

Graphics are pretty damn good for the PSP (again, say what you want about the PS2 version). Environments and the four main dungeons (hospital, Sanitarium, theater, motel) are all beautiful.

The sound effects and soundtrack are phenomenal, everything about it screams Silent Hill. I would go as far as to say this is some of Akira Yamaoka's best work.

Level design is very solid as well imo, which is saying something since apparently Sam Barlow completely redid the level design in one week upon receiving the game from their American division. This game isn't at all linear and the puzzles are actually pretty clever, which is one of Homecoming's biggest criticisms (being too linear with simple puzzles).

Monster design is also very solid imo. At first I didn't like how the Nurses and Straight-Jacket was taken from SH2. But I didn't mind when SH2 took the Creeper from SH1, and I liked how the Closer from SH3 was basically a walking Mandarin from SH2. So at the end of the day I learned to respect the Nurses and Straight-Jacket for what they were.

I must say, I think Climax really knocked it out of the park with this game. A lot of love and care went into trying to make something on the PSP as close to the console Team Silent games as possible.
