Posted: 26 Nov 2019 06:03 PM PST I've been playing through the original PS2 version of Silent Hill 2 for a few days. I was sifting through more "modern" games and never really settling in anything for very long. I wanted something to grab my attention and hold it. It had been a long time since I actually finished a game. I decided to try the Silent Hill series, it always looked intriguing and I've only heard good things. Silent Hill 2 seemed to me to be "the place to start" I guess. The first one looked pretty rough, and I heard that the second one was self contained enough. I figured if I liked it I would be moved to push through the rough was of the first one. As soon as I started it, I was a bit leery. The dialogue was cheesy, and the tank controls took me a minute to get used to. I knew that the game was lauded as being amazing so I pushed through it. I guess there was a wall I had to break through. Before I knew it I was devouring the game in hours long chunks. Thinking of the game all throughout work and actually excited to get home to play it. It had been forever since a game did that for me. The game was good, but it hadn't really terrified me yet. There were some uneasy moments, and scary parts. Then I got the the historical society. That long hallway down into the darkness... I stopped and checked all other possible options before I had to go down there. In the next few hours I experienced what I always wanted to experience from a horror game. It was sublime. I couldn't stop. I was in full hermit mode until I pushed to the end. I got the "in water" ending. It was one of the best endings I had ever experienced in a game. Immediately elevated to top 5. I'm a little biased right now, so I don't want to jump any guns and say it's my favorite. I cried a little. A video game made me cry. I had just gone through a roller coaster of such powerful emotions. Fear, dread, horror, suspense, hope, sadness, happiness. Damn. I feel like my world got ROCKED and when I emerged from my dark room and talked with my friends finally they have no idea. They don't know what just happened and all they can hear me say is that I just beat a game and I really liked it. I just had to write this to get it out, and if anyone would understand I figured it would be a Silent Hill community. Thanks for reading. I'm immediately going to get my hands on the first one and play through it. I I've read that the tone and themes are a bit different, and more demon, occult sort of oriented and I like that sort of thing too. I'm glad I have another game series that I love. I want the Silent Hill OST so hard on Spotify. Posted: 26 Nov 2019 06:45 AM PST Fuck those OSTs are not only some of the best soundtracks ever made but some of the most beautiful piece of music ever made. And yeah I know there's a cool site where you can download every OST from Silent Hill at a great quality and all but it would be cool to have it on Spotify, Spotify and other music streaming services are so handy and I would really like to have the various soundtracks on them. I just want to make some chill playlist with End Of Small Sanctuary in it or some depressing playlist with Magdalene, you know, it would be great :(((( I'd make an online petition if only online petition weren't useless shit :((( [link] [comments]

Is it allowed to share the original scene releases for the Silent Hill PC games here? Posted: 26 Nov 2019 01:23 AM PST I really struggled with random rips downloaded from questionable sources before I discovered the untouched scene releases. As all Silent Hill games maybe with the exception of SH2 use some DRM, you're likely using a scene crack already. Public torrent and direct download sites have several major risks with games:
I don't plan to include Homecoming since the game is available on Steam and takes almost as much space as the other SH PC games combined, so only SH2-4 would be covered. I source from a private tracker, you can verify the integrity with srrdb.com (maybe mods could verify the releases?). I will create a torrent and nothing more, decentralized distribution is the only way to secure availability. I'll guarantee seeding for at least a month and will occasionally check the state afterwards. The fact is that there isn't enough PC copies for all Silent Hill fans — I find it likely that no PC title was pressed in excess of 100 000. EDIT: While SH4 is missing content on PC, SH2 is in a decent shape after mods and SH3 seems to have at least visual/feature parity with the PS2 version (excluding some extra outfits). Posted: 26 Nov 2019 01:42 AM PST I've tested SH1 with ePSXe and PCSXR and both times once I attempt to use the doghouse door with three locks the screen goes all black and I cannot leave unless a save state is loaded. Is there a fix for this? [link] [comments]
[Mod Request] Add the sidebar to the Reddit Redesign Posted: 26 Nov 2019 07:02 AM PST Just noticed the redesign is missing the sidebar, likely would need reformatting to match Reddit's guidelines: https://www.reddit.com/r/redesign/comments/awuy89/how_to_display_sidebar_on_the_new_redesign/ [link] [comments] |
