Glad I stopped at Savers today. Complete and minty.

My love for this game will be eternal

I was a lucky soul to see Silent Hill the Arcade outside Japan in a Round 1. (Sadly it's gone now)

Digging the collection posts! Here's one of my favorite Silent Hill items in my own collection, a cloth banner used to advertise the Silent Hill Arcade in Japan. The actual arcade game wasn't that great but I really love the artwork Ito provided for the promotional items.

Konamistyle Europe leaflet that I found in a used copy of MGS2. Anyone got any of these?

I only just noticed the subtle change from snow to rain after it gets dark in the alley.

It isn't perfect but I tried to make a looping hallway gif from P.T.

I can't get over how bad Vincent's skin looks here. Drink some water or something, man.

I'm in the UK. Just bought a PS3 and really want to play Silent hill 4

    Posted: 08 Feb 2020 05:25 PM PST

Is it still possible to make an account for Indonesia and download from there. Could you guys give me some tips for how I could possibly get to play it. I would hate to buy a PS2 just for this one game when I've spent so much on a PS3. Literally got all the other games, just need 4 to complete the collection.

    Rank the stories

    Posted: 08 Feb 2020 03:35 PM PST

How would you rank the stories of the series?

    For me it's 1 = 2 > 4 > 3

SH3 still has a good story with a great cast of characters and symbolism, but the main plot plays it a bit too safe by retreading SH1 if you ask me.

Timeline of Team Silent games? (1-4)

Do you think Silent Hill Origins, Homecoming and Downpour could be considered a canon?

Can someone with SH4 test something for me

Can someone test what the silver bullet does on the One Truth and Walter once you stick his corpse with all 8 spears. Does he go down faster?

Could anyone give the latest version of P.T. for PC?

    Posted: 08 Feb 2020 04:32 AM PST

There are several PC remakes of P.T. but none of them beats the version of Artur Laczkowski, which is basically a 1:1 recreation of the entire game. Unfortunately he took down the Demo back in January. I have a copy of the November version (version 2 I think) but he updated the game afterwards to improve the games performance and fix bugs.

Does anyone have the latest version that was released and would be kind enough to share it here? (If anyone wants to play the October version, I would share a download link at request)

In what ways have you tried to create something related to Silent Hill (fan art, your own Silent Hill story/fanfic, music, etc)? Failure or success, I'd like to hear what the attempt was, and here is what I tried to do.

This is from my comment to a post by u/Disgurl345, who had asked how to write fan fiction for SH. It may be unnecessary, but I hope you'll be interested to read. I remember I really wanted to make a Minecraft Silent Hill Experience a few years ago, where I'd take footage from the ps4 version and edit it through software's in such a way that it's like you're watching a walkthrough of a game on youtube. I had some cool ideas, like making the monsters sound more terrifying with my own recordings that I'd edit, and it would've been cool as well to make some of the music consist entirely of throwing haunting effects together on violin, guitar, keys, you name it. I had wanted it to contain its own plot in a made up section of Silent Hill, where there'd be no areas from previous entries. That was the biggest problem though was creating a good plot without taking too much inspiration from Silent Hill 2, with psyche being what I believe to be better than a cult. The farthest I got was designing some levels and bits of the script, but I probably would've been better off with the pc version, where I could use mods to my advantage (REALLY dense fog or incredibly low draw distance would be vital, which still could only be done with mods, which again I was doing this on ps4). I wasn't sure if Team Silent thought of the symbolism of each enemy so thoroughly, but if so, it's hard to do with monsters that I didn't make in Minecraft which already look non-threatening compared to Silent Hill. That was where I thought the use of sound would've made all the difference, but yeah the project ultimately fell through because of the limitations and difficulty on the characters and plot. I was very persistent though due to how our hearts were broken almost 5 years ago, and I aimed to make something that would ultimately make the viewers scared by the experience and emotional when sad moments hit. My idea for the main character was that he was in his 20s, and was drafted into the military. His moment in Silent Hill would be some years after he served, with his big trauma dealing with ptsd. I think the themes of ptsd combined with others would've been awesome for sure, but I didn't have a clue where that would take him in Silent Hill or how it would even end. I wanted a 4-6 hour story including the fake gameplay.

In addition to the comment regarding the editing, yeah I'd take ps4 footage and would rarely use the original audio. One example would be recording footsteps to sync up with my character, and adding some reverb and other effects depending on the environment. Transitioning from room to room would be a cut to black like the classic games, and certain item pickups would include real photos from me with lots of editing to make things look more rustic and decayed, with the intention of recreating the still images you would see from the games. Side characters were planned, and I had some people picked to play the roles, but their backstories and dialogue added to the difficulty of my script. I really just didn't have a path as to where the story would go or what the appropriate ending should be. It seems we've had so many iterations now of characters finally understanding why they're in the town or what they must do, while doing a poorer job of trying to do a SH2 level plot twist. A story doesn't have to have a clear resolution, but to do it in such a way where it doesn't feel rushed or like the viewer is cheated is hard. I just didn't want to feel like I was copying everything that made the classics unique. Like I said, this may be a long and unnecessary post, but hopefully you found it interesting.

Alex Theme (Machine Head Mix) . This track is really something else

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 11:09 PM PST

Was not aware of the existence of this remix until the other day. Was listening to cradle of forest and waiting for you from SE4 the room, then the original alex theme.. and oh my! This Machine Head Mix of Alex's theme is really good. Kinda genre bending in my opinion. Very Darkwave but still very Minimal and Retro sounding. Really love those pad leads. The whole thing. I absolutely love this version of this track.
