I made a drawing of Heather and now it's my phone case :) (store and art bio links in comments)

Oh so that's what Heather has been up to since the game.

Has Kojima ever pulled off a cruel prank before?

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 01:40 PM PDT

I'm asking because he is for sure very, very aware of the Silent Hill hints he made in that recent tweet with 'pyramid' and 'silent'.

So my question is, has he ever done anything similar in the past, to hint something and not uphold it? Or were his subtle hints always a prelude to something bigger?

    I need help!

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 05:08 PM PDT

I'm on the second boss in Silent Hill 1 (the twinfeeler I think) and I've run out of ammo, and I can't seem to damage it via melee attacks. Do I have to restart the entire game? Or is there something I'm missing?

I played through Silent hill 2

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 03:25 AM PDT

So a while ago I played through silent hill one. It was a great game i really liked it. And i promised if I play through the second game I'll do the same discussion thing. So I'm back again

I really liked the story it had some really good twists, and the symbolism in the game is great as well

Tank controlls still make it hard to navigate, but it felt smoother now. It's easier in the second game than the first.

I really liked the characters everyone had a purpose and it made me worry about them. About the characters, I really liked Angela's story it was really touching and suited the theme of silent hill perfectly. Laura was weird but I liked her, she caused some funny moments in the game. Maria was something else, she made everything feel out of place. She was really well developed, and of course she has the muscles (still can't get over that James can't open a damn fridge). Eddie was messed up I somehow pitied him but the same time felt wrong about him disgusted even.

And of course don't forget about pyramid head. At the beginning I was like "Wow what a nice design looks grimm" but as the story proceeded I found it very entertaining that every time the story goes on we follow him. He makes way to us in the fog if you know what I mean. So I really digged the symbolism behind him.

The areas were great in this game, first playthrough it was really hard to navigate in the apartment and the hotel, but at the second playthrough (which I played with two of my friends who weren't familiar with silent hill at all. It was a blast) I knew where the things were. The apartment is still a bit trigger hunting in my opinion, but overall I really liked this game.

why i haven't i played silent hill before as a kid these games are great

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 09:51 AM PDT

as the title says i remember seeing them as a kid but being way too scared of playing them but this year i finally played 2 and 3 and well 2 was alright (i'm going to be put on a cross for saying that) the game to me wasn't scary at all not even chilling and that's cause of the gameplay and it being way too easy i used the pipe mainly and almost never used my guns which in turn i had 200 pistol rounds and 100 shotgun shell and 20 rife rounds (which i used for the final boss and killed it in less then 2 min without getting hit) but the story holy shit it's good i really enjoyed it

but silent hill 3 personality i think that game is a masterpiece that game creeped me out but the gameplay mainly items scared me because i used everything and i mean everything health and ammo to survive i loved that and the story with the cult i really loved

right now i'm going to play silent hill 1 and 4 later and probably downpour (i have that on ps3 and heard when patched it ain't half bad) tho 1st i need to beat a bunch of other games in my backlog haha

    SH1 - what can’t you skip?

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 10:24 AM PDT

I'm replaying the first game for the first time in a while. When I replay 2, there are certain things I always look for even if I don't technically need them to beat the game, like "there was a hole here" or James's hilarious inner monologue about the alcohol bottles. But in SH1 I'm trying to think if there are any optional, fun little bits that I should seek out. Do you have any favorite bits that you never skip in SH1?

Does SH2 enhanced edition work on Windows XP?

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 09:47 AM PDT

I'm trying to install SH2 on a WinXP virtual machine. The base game installed without any problems and after I installed patch 1.1 it runs ok (by that I mean there were sound problems in the first 3 minutes that I played and the settings menu is running at 5 fps, but it otherwise works).

After installing the Enhanced Edition as instructed in the project's site (without ReShade) I get an error message that says "The procedure entry point K32GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll" upon launching the game. This is probably because of Windows XP but I just wanted to ask if anybody has tried doing this before, just to rule out the VM causing the problem.

Cannot install Silent Hill 3 Widescreen Fix

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 07:08 AM PDT

Hey Guys, been stuck on this for a few hours and cannot think of any way to fix or get around it.

    I have tried installing:

    1. The Widescreen Fix (most recent version)

    2. The Steam006 1.6 and 1.7 version (video appears in corner)

    3. The original widescreen fix (terrible)

If anyone has any ideas on how to either get the widescreen version actually working. It basically says to update the dlls then will just crash over and over with no game startup.

or if anyone knows how to fix the Steam006 widescreen from appearing only as a small window in the corner i would really appreciate.

    thx yall

Any way to have a fps counter in Silent Hill 3 PC?

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 11:40 AM PDT

I'd like to see how the framerates is doing but neither Rivatuner nor Fraps is working on it. Is there a way to get an overlay? I want to see what minimum TDP settings I need to keep it running smoothly

Also, shout out to u/AQ90 for getting me all set up to play the PC version, you're the man (or woman)!

    HD Collection

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 11:18 AM PDT

Try not to be biased and say something like just get the original games because I can't get a PS2. Is the HD Collection really that bad or is it just some toned down graphics and some glitches here and there?

A little "There was a HOLE here. It's gone now." theory.

    Posted: 27 Mar 2020 08:50 PM PDT

Perhaps this be a reference to Silent Hill 1. In that game an Air Screamer crashes through a window in Cafe 5to2, the first windowed location you can enter in SH1. I wonder if the "There was a HOLE here it's gone how" is a little reference to that, considering Neely's bar is the first place with windows you can enter in SH2.
