Hideo Kojima in Talks With Junji Ito About Working on a New Horror Game

    Posted: 24 Jul 2020 10:11 PM PDT

Yesterday in an interview during Comic-Con 2020, Junji Ito revealed he is currently in contact with Hideo Kojima about working on a possible new horror game. I doubt it will be a Silent Hill game, and we shouldn't hype this as such or get our hopes up. It's really very early in the making, Ito was only contacted by Kojima and is still in talks with him, but this is confirmation that we might get a new horror game from Hideo Kojima with Junji Ito sometime in the future. For all PT lovers and horror game lovers alike, this is certainly great news!

Hideo Kojima. Junji Ito. Horror game. Say no more!

SH1/3 vs SH2 story. Whats your favourite and why?

    Posted: 24 Jul 2020 11:11 AM PDT

    Hey all,

Recently replayed the entire series, well 1-4 and SH2 has always been my favourite. After the recent play through however I've started leaning towards the story of SH1/3 due to how it's presented and told. With how the nightmare gets more and more aggressive and the side characters such as Vincent are really compelling and have their own little intricacies.

SH2 was always my favourite due to how depressingly beautiful it was, tragic but rewarding for finally facing your demons as James. But I find myself more drawn to the whole Alessa/cult plot after my recent playthrough.

What's your guys personal favourite? Would love to hear some different perspectives/inputs :)

I beat Silent Hill 1, now what?

    Posted: 24 Jul 2020 08:03 PM PDT

Both 2 and 3 are pretty pricey so I'd like to avoid spending upwards $160 total both of them (getting just 2 for $80 isn't that much more appealing) so naturally I was gonna get the HD Collection but I'm hearing it's bad. Just how bad is it? Should I even consider it?

Bullet-point thoughts after playing SH3 for the first time

    Posted: 24 Jul 2020 02:24 AM PDT

I played Silent Hill 2 many years ago, and I loved it, but for a long time I didn't investigate the rest of the series. I finally played Silent Hill earlier this year, and now I've played Silent Hill 3. Here are a handful of notes on it!

    • It's interesting to see an attempt to depict a normal environment in a Silent Hill game. Why does a normal non-Silent-Hill shopping centre have so many broken locks rendering doors inoperable?

    • I read the subway newspaper article about the guy who'd been hit by a train and concluded, 'Well, obviously the way to progress is to get hit by the same train.' Spoiler: the correct course of action was not to be hit by a train.

    • I knew in advance about the big death partway through the game, so I'm afraid I can't give an unspoiled reaction there. The scene where Heather discovers the body is very upsetting, but I found it hard to focus on it when I was so distracted by the fact that he apparently hadn't changed his clothes in seventeen years.

    • H-Heather. Heather, you need to tell the police about this murder. You cannot just leave the corpse in a bed in your flat and run off to another town on a revenge mission. There will be questions. Even if there weren't questions, you would regret this decision the second you walked back through your front door.

    • I really like awkward, sad detective Douglas Cartland, which I wasn't expecting! His dynamic with Heather is great. I love the strange, tense moment when he points his gun at her but doesn't shoot, and that they're still on good terms afterwards.

    • I'm also enjoying Vincent occasionally just showing up to make everything uncomfortable. (Are you... are you not going to ask how Vincent got into your motel room? No? You're just going to accept that this incredibly untrustworthy guy presumably followed you from your hometown to Silent Hill and you just found him in your motel room? Okay.)

    • Vincent saying, 'I always hated getting all... hot... and sweaty' was a bit odd. The pauses made it seem like a come-on! But the content doesn't make sense as a come-on! 'I'm repelled by the thought of having sex with you,' Vincent says, breathily.

    • It's hilarious to me that Heather barely reacts when Claudia stabs Vincent in front of her. Poor Vincent. Nobody cares about that guy.

    • Did Claudia just pick up the god foetus and eat it??? Claudia, you cannot get God into your womb that way; you are putting her into entirely the wrong orifice.

    • Where did Vincent's corpse go? Did Claudia eat him, too? I have so many questions.

    • On a serious note, Heather breaking down once everything's over hit me right in the heart. Poor girl; she really hasn't had time to grieve.

    • I'm glad the sad detective survived the game! It was nice to have a character who genuinely seemed to be on Heather's side. I don't know where Heather's going to go now, but I sort of hope Douglas takes her in. She needs a parental figure and he needs someone.

    • I really enjoyed Heather as a protagonist. She's fun in a way Harry and James aren't, and there's a lot of personality in her observations when she examines things. I can understand why Silent Hill 2 couldn't really have that levity - the idea of James Sunderland wisecracking makes me shudder; that'd be awful - but it was a pleasant change in Silent Hill 3.
