Very cool. I love how it doesn't explicitly say "Silent Hill" on it, but it's something fans will recognize when they see it.

This is an unpopular opinion, I’m going to lose karma. Troy Baker was great as James. He sounds more empathetic when talking to Eddie and he just delivers his lines in a certain way that I like.

Music that sounds like "You're not here" from SH3?

I love the sound of the guitars, doesn't have to be female vocals but it does sound amazing on the actual track

Playing Silent Hill 1 for the first time! Looking for recommendations!

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 05:01 PM PDT

Hello! Little background: My sisters and I love video games! One of my sisters ended up being a huge Silent Hill fan while I became a huge Resident Evil fan. (I'm pretty good at not being scared by horror games whereas my sister gets terrified, so I find it funny that she ended up with the scarier franchise)

I watched my sister play SH 1, 2, 3, and Homecominga and she's watched me play all the RE games and so on! (Homecoming was really weird but I think I like it?

So my question, as I finally play the SH games myself, is if anyone can recommend anything similar to the classic titles of SH 1-3 (RE 1-3) with as similar as possible atmosphere and such. I have access to a laptop switch decent gaming capabilities, and Playstation 1-4.

    Thanks! And wish me luck!

My thoughts on Silent Hill Revelation

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 01:43 PM PDT

Yeah this isn't a joke but while I know this movie isn't liked, I still want to explain what I think about this movie.

First off I was interested in the artwork on the cover as it looks really creepy which at first looks like the badly recieved Deadpool but if you look closely, Alessa has no pupils, just blank irises and the cracks on her face can literally be a symbolism to her being the source for the Otherworld and I've watched both movies to understand she is the Devil or called that by the worshipers, still is one of my favorite covers of any Horror movie.

Second, I understand that this movie was limited and is more CGI but I'm unbiased with bad CGI as I've watched every kind of movie or series with bad CGI so this is more so one of the more tolerable movies I can watch and if they'd make that Manniquen Monster updated and still look freaky then I believe it would've been better received but that goes to my next section.

Third I love that Manniquen Monster of all the Monsters, it is more terrifying as not just being able to look at all angles with heads or even it being a large spider but that it can fight back and not holding back which is why I've used it for my DMC x Silent Hill crossovers but this new one will be far better now that I've had several nightmares and seen more weird ways to animate in a dream state so I will make sure I've executed the Monster better. However I personally want to see a combination to the design in the concept art where it's just a mass of legs that's part of a body and maybe a face but use the pair of heads on its thorax in the movie which has a frozen look of agony on both and a leg coming out of the mouth as that would be perfect, makes the design look more creepy.

Fourth while the environments are not as enjoyable as in the original movie and many situations are weird and silly, it's a fact the world will be this way as the teenager is innocent and Hell disguises itself in many ways, it can look cute and welcoming but as part of a nightmare created as a half of Alessa, she's still connected to her evil side and it varies from different quality and if a series looks bleak, dull, lifeless and any other quality for something based on terror and horrible things, I've come to think I'm affected just like the character but that doesn't mean I have as much strength to do it all day and night without end, I'm just saying that as in thinking it from that perspective.

Five, the music is still intense and my favorites include Rain of a Brass Petals, Silent Scream and the end part of the Credits which that sfx at the end really feels creepy. I do like some of this movie's soundtrack but they won't beat the ones I've listed.

Six and my thoughts on the Story is not something I thought about but I'd say it works for Cheryl trying to reach her dad and because her dark half knows where she is and what she's doing, it's easier but speaking of her evil half, I love the demonic voice effect which her speaking with different voices will make her personality weird and mixed which can be used as an explanation why the acting is off and you can joke about the hugging part but since she cant do anything once Cheryl keeps a grip on her, she won't escape which is a thing in cases of fusions and I mean they are becoming one again so yeah. I also like the idea of a character being born in Silent Hill as it can give us situations where they have a special and rare trait no outsiders have as Monsters can either be easier to flee from or the emotional strength can make it difficult but unfortunately, the Monsters come from tramau, fear, etc. so it probably will be worse and do the opposite. Also to explain why Dark Alessa couldn't have done anything since Cheryl met the guy (forget his name) if you wanted to ask, she's black hearted and a demon so she knows he's in danger with the Nurses or "Dark Nurses" and quietly enjoys what gruesome thing will happen to him as that's what demons do.

Seven, the fights were okay but that's the point and that reason Cheryl isn't attacked by the Monsters is because she is kept alive by her other half as she even wants her to accept she's her sister, daughter and self but doesn't happen but that fight in the Credits is where it fits and the Manniquen Monster, that thing kicked the Nurse that went flying shown in the development sketch while it smacked one of its heads which is why it shattered by the jaw and really goes all out which if you look closely to the Nurse held, her right arm was chopped by her knife and doing other things all at once which I would love if this Monster became an actual threat for a Silent Hill game, fanmade or not but fanmade is the only thing to go for since Konami, you know?

Lastly eight and I won't say this movie is perfect as I know the first Silent Hill movie is better and there's some things they could've added but it's not entirely bad, sure it doesn't fit the old movie but we're talking about Cheryl who isn't pulled into Silent Hill by others because Alessa is her mother and let her stay where she is but not in a pure way, Alessa is evil and will still make others suffer in the Nightmare World because that's what she's about so again, it's not as bad as people make it out to be but I will still tell people, if they watch this then be ready for it not being of the same quality as the first.

Small question for a related series (Forbidden Siren)

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 07:03 PM PDT

    Howdy lads.

Just a small question. And also since r/forbiddensiren is pretty much dead, I figured asking here would be somewhat the same since FS games' director also directed the first SH, so I guess most of you might have had some curiosity in the franchise.

With that in mind, I've read somewhere on this sub, some time ago, that this game did the "have players collaborate collectively to solve a single-player game" thing way before PT came along. However I've been looking for more evidence other than "brodude comments on reddit"... but had no such luck.

Could anyone elaborate and provide a link that describes such a mechanic, or at the very least clarify whether this is true or not?

    A good read!

I came across this on Webtoon and have been hooked and thought I should share on here.

The story has nice pacing and some disturbing images and monsters.

I think it would have been nice to have an entry into the Silent hill games with a few protagonists

Is Dead By Daylight any good?

I never played Dead By Daylight but the whole Heather/Pyramid Head DLC got me excited since Silent Hill has been practically dead for the last six years. Is it worth playing?
