I was able to dig up my copy of Silent Hill 2 after thinking it was lost or sold long ago. I can't play this version at the moment, nevertheless I'm happy enough knowing I still have this incredible game in my possession.

How would you guys do a modern Silent Hill title?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 04:33 PM PST

I'm actually interested, I would like a mix between the Outlast formula, the Until Dawn tension (or Heavy Rain or Man of Medan), and PT.

Idk why, but being super realistic doesn't scare me to muck and Idk if I'm the only one, I prefer to be like really well design. An Item lore description.

I know this description is weird af. But I actually want to know your opinions.

Okay but... What IS the town of silent hill?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 03:02 PM PST

I've played the first four games, loved the first three, and I'm replaying them. But... besides the cult stuff hinted at, what IS silent hill? James' story and the Mason's stories are completely unrelated from each other, but silent hill, the town itself, seems to mold to and partially reflect each of its visitors. It changes itself specifically for them. So what IS this town? Is it a mass hallucination? Is it spillover from hell? Is it the creation of some eldritch entity? Just curious!

Watching TRSHE... there's so much Hypocrisy

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 04:26 PM PST

They hold the opinion that Silent Hill's story is so important that it apparently trumps the golden rule in video games; that gameplay comes first. A few episodes later, they complain about everything in Shattered Memories being """"""""""pointless"""""""""" because the picture taking, phone calls and texts are all plot and lore related.

I've came out reinforced that Hardcore SH Fans need to stop pissing their pants so much about new entries being, well, new. Every game has been new. Of course 3 isn't like 2, Homecoming like 1, Shattered Memories like the movie, etc. Even when it supposedly stole content, it was contextualised to fit the new game, redesigned, everything needed to make it fit. So, please, stop crying already! Your attitude is exactly why there are no more games, you have been given what you want numerous times and still found a way to whine.

TL;DR - TRSHE has reinforced that y'all Hardcore types need to stop crying.

    Please make a game Konami

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 07:24 AM PST

    I'm half past drunk.

All I really want is a new Silent Hill game.

I'm on my knees literally hoping for a new entry.

Silent Hill 2 is almost like cathartic relieve for me, having Persistent Depression, i just really hope that a new Silent Hill will be made.

That's honest all I want at this point in my life.

Please Konami, please. Please just let the creative do their own work.

    Meaning of Cynthia's mannequin doppelganger

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 10:17 AM PST

I always found the part where you return to the underground bathroom in Silent Hill 4 interesting because of the mannequin. I inspected it a few days ago and realized that most of the blood is on her hands. That instantly reminded me of the famous quote Claudia says to Heather about bringing about God with blood-stained hands. In Western contexts we all know that bloody hands are symbolic for guilt. I double checked with a Japanese friend and she confirmed that there's a similar concept in Japan about it representing guilt and sinful behavior. It would match with Cynthia's overly promiscuous and drinking lifestyle. Walter would definitely view a woman like Cynthia through a true misogynistic lens.

Fallout 4 got me back into Silent Hill.

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 06:24 PM PST

Not that my love of Silent Hill ever went away, but there hasn't been a game in so long, or even a movie... nothing new to keep the series relevant to my daily life aside from occasional nostalgia.

Then I discovered there's a strong appreciation for Silent Hill among Fallout 4's modding community. For me it started with the Radio Silent mod, which introduces a radio station playing the original songs from most of the games and movies. That might have been enough, because I adore the songs, but then I got the Whispering Hills mod which overhauls the game to make it as much of a Silent Hill experience as Fallout 4 can be; it's got the enemies, ambient music and sound effects, the trademark foggy weather, and it even pulls the player into the Otherworld occasionally. There's even an add-on for that mod which replaces the game's menu sound effects with those of Silent Hill.

I've had a blast with those mods, and I'd recommend them to anyone who happens to enjoy SH as well as Fallout. It's a surprisingly effective mash-up.

Playing FO4 like that got me to thinking about how I can play the Silent Hill games, which led to me picking up the HD Collection (I know) and making plans to get as many of the games as will run on PS2. I'm running around Wood Side Apartments now, having a blast reliving the SH2 experience. And while I would have eventually gotten around to this anyway, I thank the Fallout 4 modding community for getting me to do it sooner rather than later.

    Original silent hill: hospital map?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 08:54 PM PST

So im on my 1st playthrough and got to the hospital. I missed the map and also didnt expect to enter otherworld so quickly (considering how much it took in the school and in sh2). Is there any way to get it?

A question that has been crossing my mind since I discovered the "Silent Hill: Homecoming" unused content.

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 04:12 PM PST

As you probably already know, a "Hunter" character was supposed to be featured in "Homecoming" (He and Alex would've barricaded themselves in a hut, in the forest near Sheperd's Glenn, where he would've been taken by the monsters and killed during the attack).

This character was later scrapped and turned into Travis Grady, the tracker from "Origins", who gives Alex a ride to his home.

    Now, my question is:

If the "Hunter" would've made the cut, how do you think Alex would've originally returned to Sheperd's Glenn?

Do you think he would've returned alone or, maybe, the "Tracker" would've still been in the game but, this time, only as a nameless person with a different look than Travis Grady?

Any Games With Similar Atmosphere To SH2?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 07:10 PM PST

Hi all, was just curious if anyone knows of any games that may have a similar atmosphere to that of SH2. It doesn't need to be a horror game, but preferably something that takes it's time. By atmosphere, I'm referring to things like...fog, dreary, depressing, melancholy, loneliness, contemplation, etc.
