What if I told you that fog was a naturally occurring thing before Silent Hill came out?

If we somehow got another Silent Hill, I would love a setting that was something along these lines. I snagged these shots while in Brooklyn during January.

So I have seen this movie "The New Mutants" and it was horrible by the way and in one scene I thought I recognized the sound track, link at the exact second..

    https://youtu.be/w6CXm56wTAc?list=PLohYzz4btpaTuwJKvP3TzRsq-1EiN5KhJ&t=56

and it appears to be copied from the beginning of this Silent Hill 3 soundtrack "A Stray Child"

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdCrrbqUlYE

Was it licensed or just straight copied?

if copied maybe someone could tell the original composer about it.

Silent hill 2 is the 5 stages of grief

Silent Hill Enhanced Edition crashes during PH fight.

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 01:59 PM PST

I crash when I go into the stairwell where you fight Pyramid Head for the first time. Cutscene runs well, the fight begins. I shoot at him, he seems to move in slow motion when I hit him (I don't remember this happenng), and then after a certain amount of bullets, it crashes. It's happened three times now, which tells me that maybe I beat the fight and the cutscene that follows is crashing the game. Is there anything I can do? I really want to finish the game this time.

    Thank you.

How Would you Rank the Series from Best to Worst?

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 05:20 AM PST

Last night I FINALLY completed every mainline Silent Hill game (a feat I've tried for years, but I always just ended up replaying 1-4 instead of the newer ones) with the completion of Downpour. Here's how I feel about the series from best to worst, please let me know how your list stacks up:

    • Silent Hill 2

Come on, this is best of the best, the cream of the crop. If you like the psychological horror, this is the best of the best. Probably the best puzzles in the series. I tend to prefer the mindfuck-y aspects of the series over the more gorey visceral, murdercult horror.

    • Silent Hill

I have a soft spot for the game that started it all. I love the "poor" graphics and especially heavy fog. I love Harry Mason and it's got a good deal of psychological horror and murderculty stuff. Good f'n game, excellent puzzles.

    • Silent Hill 3

It's like the Silent Hill 2 version of Silent Hill 1, if that makes sense. Heather is a great character, this one is just a little bogged down for me because the sheer volume (and toughness) of enemies takes away from the exploration and the quiet moments of tension. Still a fantastic game.

    • Silent Hill 4: The Room

I love this game, it just doesn't stack up to the trilogy. The actual room portion of the Room has some of the best moments in the franchise for me, but outside of the room, combat and gameplay can be a little spotty imo.

    • Silent Hill: Homecoming

I actually quite like Homecoming, even if the story is a little contrived, obvious, and includes good ol' Triangle Man for some reason. That said, the puzzles are fairly satisfying, as is exploration, even if there is a little less to explore than I'd like. Combat has never felt smoother (for better or for worse), and it's got a lot of really cool enemy designs and boss battles, imo. I enjoyed this, but it's a huge step down from 1-4.

    • Silent Hill: Downpour

I really hated Downpour when I first started it. It has probably the weakest intro in the whole series. It wasn't until I left the mines area did I really start liking this one. The story keeps you guessing what really happened until the end, and the part right before the ending is an interesting change of pace for the series. There is a lot of side content to explore too, which is pretty cool. If the combat felt a little cleaner and if there were more boss battles, I might put this one above Homecoming. In fact, I think these two are kind of neck-and-neck.

    • Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

This one had so much potential. I love the phone, I love the puzzles that come with it, but separating the "combat" and puzzle sections COMPLETELY destroys any sense of tension. I HATED the chase sequences and always dreaded them. It wasn't scary, it was annoying. I have no interest in replaying this one, even if the psyche evaluation segments keep the game kind of fresh. I did enjoy the story though. Worth playing, but only once, imo.

    • Silent Hill: Origins

Fuck I hate this game. This is the game that made me give up playing the later games. The weapon durability thing I hate and ruins any sort of meaningful progression (which might be why Downpour scored a little lower). Story is interesting, but the gameplay itself is frustrating and repetitive and I hate it. Maybe I need to retry it; this was years ago.

What are your opinions? Am I an idiot? Let's have some meaningful discussion!

Losing my childhood copy of SH2 was probably the best thing that could have happen to me. A few months ago I only had SH3. Now I spend my free time buying and selling games on offer up to keep feeding the obsession . I add to my collection, make some money and it’s a nice hobby.
