TGA's could have been way WAY worse (a short horror story)

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 03:19 PM PST

Picture this: Middle of TGA stream. They cut to a trailer for new content. It's The hallway of Blue Creek apartments but with newer graphics. We see James anxiously walking the corridors, with a wooden plank in hand. A few people in chat realize who it is. James has shallow frightened breaths as he reaches for a doorknob, it's jammed, and he lets out a small sigh of relief. He walks over to another door and his fear rises and his breath becomes shaky again, it's jammed. More people in chat are realizing what's going on, but something's off, everything has flat colors and James's hands look rather big, but that doesn't matter, since it's a Silent Hill 2 remake! Right? James walks over to a final door and gulps. He reaches for the doorknob, it opens. He walks inside and the door shuts behind him. It then shows an updated version of the pyramid head cutscene before the boss fight. Pyramid head kills the lying figure and tosses it to the ground as it makes otherworldly moans, and James tries the door again, but to no avail. Chat goes insane as everyone realizes what's happening, but those flat colors, and smoothed textures... Pyramid head lurches forward, dragging the heavy great knife behind him, as James stares in utter horror, still trying to force the door open. Suddenly though, a blue light appears between the two of them, growing brighter and brighter, until it opens into a portal. The blonde fortnite guy falls out and smiles at both of them. James gets a confused look on his face, and although Pyramid head can't express emotion through his steel plated hood, he too is obviously baffled. Fortnite guy takes both of them by the hands and takes them into the portal. The screen transitions to a dark blue background as bright yellow letters display "FORTNITE- PYRAMID HEAD & JAMES SUNDERLAND JOIN THE HUNT'' next to a cartoon stylized version of both of them. People in chat fucking die.

Can we ban rumors about new Silent Hill games?

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 04:12 PM PST

It feels like half of the posts here are just baseless rumors about new Silent Hill games. I propose that unless Konami comes out and announces it themselves we don't allow these posts anymore. They always lead to disappointment.

    Thoughts?

Tips for Playing SH2 on PC?

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 08:07 PM PST

I'm interested in replaying Silent Hill 2 on PC, but I haven't really been checking on the situation there. I remember having some issues playing several years ago. I think there were Windows compatibility issues and performance issues on dual core CPUs. IIRC there was also possibly an issue with widescreen?

Just wanted to check if anyone could fill me in on what the go-to way to play it is these days, and if there are any mods/hacks for widescreen support or graphics improvements, that's a plus.

Ok let's get real here, we all know silent hill 2 has the most banger soundtracks of all time

Any other opinion is invalid unless you can prove it

The tag is discussion but we all know it's useless to discuss this

Edit: SHUT UP!!!! Useless Useless Useless!!!! Yes i have played the other games as well, also SH3 comes in second place because of "you're not here", but man SH2 is godlike

Is it too late to get good ending?

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 03:17 PM PST

I just beat silent hill 1 and I definitely got the bad ending. It made me sad. I looked up the way to get the good ending and realized I missed a side quest, but is it too late if my only save is in the child's room before the final door? Or can I get back out somehow and complete that quest?

Any idea why the Silent Hill 1 Soundtrack isn't available on streaming?

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 09:59 AM PST

I mostly use Spotify for streaming music, so when the OSTs for Silent Hill 2-4 were released on the platform, I was super stoked. I was a bit disappointed to see that SH1's OST wasn't on Spotify at the time however, and I've waited since then hoping it would be added.

Does anyone have any solid reasons as to why this specific game's soundtrack isn't available on legal streaming platforms? I wondered if it was down to some licensing issue, but I didn't think there would be a huge difference in distribution rights, etc. between SH1 and SH2's soundtracks... If anyone's done some more digging on this, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

What is your favorite part of this series?

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 08:18 AM PST

I'm currently in very early development of my Silent Hill and other classic PS1/2 horror games inspired game, so I'd thought I should ask the community what their favorite part of the series is to see what the most common thing is, also once I'm much further along in development I will make a post here with a link to an early build if anyone would like to play it. Just in case anyone was wondering my favorite thing is the way (at least in the Team Silent games) that the monsters connect to the protagonists fears or desires.
