    So there's a rumor that the ps5 will be able to play any PS game, and I've been dying to replay SH 1-4. Even if it's not true I can pick up a ps2 for cheap. What's the best option for buying them? Really not trying too spend more than I have to for them.

    Emulated wth PCSX2 or PC versions with mods?

    What is the definitive way to play Silent Hill 2-4 in 2020? I own all the PS2 versions and have them ripped as ISOs to play with PCSX2 but I'm wondering if *acquiring* the PC versions with some of the fan-made mods would result in a better experience.

    Wht do you think about SH Downpour?

    Personally I liked the story. Even though the gameplay was janky and the game was unplayable at launch, I still think the story is its redeeming quality. I especially liked that it seemed like the detective was going through seemingly different experience then the player, to the point where the game puts players in the control of a boss that she has to fight and one of the endings focuses on her being punished for killing Murphy. Its almost like you could make a separate game with her as the main character.

    What are your opinions?

    What camera angle would you want in a new Silent Hill?

    We all know we loved the static camera angles from the first few games and then we mostly agreed the newer over the shoulder didn't lend as much atmosphere as the aforementioned angle did.

    Now, with how run into the ground the first person walking sim has become since the release of PT, would you still want a new SH to follow in its footsteps? Would you want a remake of 1 to be OTS, Static or FPS?

    Hospice by The Antlers really, really reminds me of James and Mary

    Hopefully this is allowed and doesn't sound too advertismentish, but I thought I'd just share this album to SH players. For the uninformed, the album's storyline is about a hospice worker who falls in love with a patient with terminal cancer. It's kind of garnered this reputation of being one of the most depressing albums ever...which I know most of y'all have probably heard about SH as well. The album explores their relationship from the beginning to the eventual downward spiral caused by the woman's disease, and the fear and anger bought in from it. The album's suppose to be a metaphor for an abusive relationship, but obviously you can take it completely literally too. The whole thing really explores those feelings of pure hopelessness, anger and depression that James and Mary were both dealing with throughout their journeys. Give it a listen if you're interested!

    Silent hill origins

    Hi all, thought I post about Origins.

    Do any off you hold it with the original trilogy by team silent, or like Downpour, the room and others - a pale in comparison attempt.

    Myself, I enjoyed it.

    I played it on the psp, with headphones on, and cacked myself at certain scenes, in particular some abrupt tape recordings.

    I thought the puzzles were ok, a very nice mix of classic and new.

    The environment, again a nice mix were I could see it as an extension to the already established city of silent hill.

    Music ok it did the job.

    Enemies, all seemed to have a relevant connection to the plot.

    Characters too, were relatable, and each had a purpose to the plot.

    Lastly the actual plot, which did feel a "add on" at first managed to stray away from the main plot of silent hill and allowed Travis to have his own independent story similar to James from SH2.

    Oh and the butcher.... I admit again a "add on" a replacement of a certain pyramid head. He did have some good moments.

    What are you guys thoughts on the influx of potential silent hill games supposedly in development?

    Honestly I have to say I'm really hyped, and I honestly don't even have that much skepticism in me. I'm new to silent hill (finally played the hd collection in August and absolutely loved the series, still have to play the other games) so I never really have been waiting for the games like I'm sure a good bit of you have or were. Now with that said I do hope it's done right and at least close to the quality of team silent's games if not equal to.

    Why isn’t Silent Hill 4 Backwards Compatible?

    Silent Hill HD Collection, Silent Hill Homecoming, and Silent Hill Downpour are backwards compatible so why isn't Silent Hill 4? I would love to play The Room because I've never played it and it would be great thing to add since it's on the original Xbox and it would add a game to the Xbox Compatible line up. Maybe it's legal issues but I don't see why it isn't.

    Making Nurse monsters that aren't SH Nurse RIP offs.

    So as a writing exercise I've been tooling an old concept for a Silent Hill fan game (nothing concrete, just a glorified fan project) into a more SH inspired concept, similar to the game Daymare 1998, which was a Resident Evil 2 fan remake that got tooled into an original Resident Evil inspired game.

    Besides changing the name (going with Misty Plains for now) the most pertinent thing was replacing the actual Silent Hill monsters I wanted to add in with my own flair, the most specific being the Nurses.

    In the original concept the main protagonist is a troubled young woman who grew up in an abusive fundamentalist Christian household, and one of the many themes tied to her monsters was the destructive duality of her strict Christian upbringing and her repressed homosexual feelings, leading to a lot of the more feminine monsters being sexualized to represent her own fear of her feelings.

    So I just wanted to be clear that, I have thematic REASONS for the nurses to be there, (especially since one of the planned areas was a hospital) but now that I'm moving from fan story to homaging it, trying to create a sexualized Nurse monster without it being a Silent Hill rip off seems next to impossible.

    What do you guys think?
