    This is a good thing that so many are being introduced to this series. New fans = money, and money = potential for a new game. Don't scare new players off with negativity. It's amazing that all these people are now exposed to the franchise!

    Since the announcement of the new DBD chapter being Silent Hill themed, I've seen posts and comments on here and elsewhere that Pyramid Head chasing after Cheryl (Heather) Mason makes no sense lorewise. And that isn't a false statement. If we take it as fact that the monsters that manifest themselves in Silent Hill come from a particular character's psyche (which is iffy, given that the monsters in the original SH are manifested from Alessa's fears) then in some way, in another dimension, an alternate universe, whatever you want to call it, the monsters do indeed exist.

    In Dead By Daylight, the main antagonist is called the Entity. The overview on the official DBD Wiki describes it as: an almighty malevolent being, travelling through the cosmos and slowly consuming worlds. From this, we can assume that either:

    a) there is a single reality where all of this exists (whether it's a single "Earth" or multiple worlds within the universe is up to you)

    or

    b) there are multiple realities (a multiverse) and the Entity can dimension hop around to find victims.

    In any event, the Entity abducts from other worlds and brings its victims into its own reality or realm. It selects its victims (and I believe most everyone and everything brought in is a victim of some sort, even the Killers) based on emotion. In the official Wiki, the Entity is referred to as an Emotion Vampire, so hope, fear, desperation, anger, bloodlust, etc, are all very potent in sustaining the Entity. If we look at Cheryl over the course of Silent Hill 3, she displays love, anger, hate, determination, all sorts of things that the Entity would love and benefit from, so it took her.

    Pyramid Head is another beast entirely. Taking into account that PH is manifested from James's subconscious desire for punishment, it's not a stretch to say that PH feels the drive to punish and torment. And as I already stated, PH does exist within James's Silent Hill, which means that it's accessible by the Entity. In canon, James disappears after SH2, so either he killed himself or died or just didn't return to the world after the events of the game. We see two Pyramid Heads at the end of the game that kill themselves. The Silent Hill Wiki states that one of the Pyramid Heads in that scene is the original one, although the wording is ambiguous enough that it was a Pyramid Head, not necessarily the Pyramid Head. According to the official DBD Wiki, Pyramid Head still walked the streets of Silent Hill after James departed. And then, of course, was taken by the Entity and took part in its trials.

    In short: the Entity took two beings that weren't really related and threw them together. At the end of the night, Cheryl (and Dwight, and Meg, and Claudette, and Jake, etc) would still go through the gamut of emotions trying to escape it, and Pyramid Head would still get to dispense the punishment it needed to.

    From a game development standpoint, the devs at Behaviour took two iconic characters from an iconic horror series to add to its game. While some licensed characters have a specific survivor (Michael Myers and Laurie Strode, Freddy Kruger and Quentin Smith) others don't (Leatherface and Ghostface are by themselves, Ash from Evil Dead has no antagonist). In the case of the Stranger Things chapter, a more iconic pairing with the Demogorgon would arguably by Eleven or one of the Byers, but instead we have Nancy Wheeler and Steve Harrington (and his fabulous hair). And even with the original survivors and killers, there's not necessarily a connection. Huntress and Plague, for example, pre-date the current available survivors.

    Ultimately, it's about having fun, and barring that, their inclusion in the game might stretch, but doesn't necessarily break, existing lore.
