What would Silent Hill smell like? Posted: 01 Jun 2020 07:46 PM PDT Seriously though, has anyone ever thought about this? I think SH1 would smell like a dusty old school, SH2 would smell like a mix of cum, piss and dying people. SH3 would probably just smell like vaginal discharge and crusty blood. Theory: The Medium is going to be what Silent Hill 3 was originally supposed to be Posted: 01 Jun 2020 03:29 PM PDT Previously, I wrote a post in which I thoroughly explained why the cult was never supposed to be the central part of the Silent Hill series, even though a lot of fans think that it's all what SH games were ever about and SH2 was just an outlier/exception. Recently, I've stumbled upon this video about Silent Hill 3, which did not just help to reinforce my previous theory and thoughts, but it also helped me to realize some things I haven't thought about before. --- Akira Yamaoka said this in a 2005 interview about Silent Hill 3: "Originally, the intention was not to make SH3 a direct sequel to the first game. In fact, the scenario was completely different. It was much more along the lines of the second, where the main character was a damaged human being summoned to the town for a very specific reason. It was, or should I say, is, the darkest story we've ever come up with". This in is itself basically answers what SH games were really supposed to be about. Yamaoka in the same interview also talked about why they eventually scrapped the original idea. ..."fans seemed to want to tie up some loose ends, so we tried that... even though some of the staff did not agree with the decision." "I feel our needs as creators have taken a back seat since the third game". It's more than likely when Yamaoka talked about the fans, he wanted to refer to Konami. --- However, some core pillars(in theory) in one way or another stayed in Silent Hill 3. Namely, an adolescent female protagonist and an unwanted pregnancy. And this is where Bloober Team's next game, The Medium comes in. The developers of it explicitly stated that they want to do what Silent Hill 2 did to horror, they want to follow its footsteps and they are heavily inspired by it. And... Silent Hill 2 is a game that was originally supposed to be the groundwork for Silent Hill 3... And... Akira Yamaoka is working on it... And... the game also seem to center around an adolescent female protagonist with (an unwanted?) pregnancy. So maybe we are getting THAT version of Silent Hill 3 that was the original vision of Team Silent? [link] [comments] | ||

Anybody checked out Golden Light yet? Posted: 01 Jun 2020 06:47 PM PDT It's this really neat, old school PlayStation looking horror game that makes me think it is the closest thing we will get to a rogue-like Silent Hill. Really cool game. [link] [comments] |
