Should I keep playing SH HD Collection?

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 06:44 PM PDT

I've played it since it very first came out, and I've ALWAYS been deeply in love with it, because without it I never would have started playing the Silent Hill games. I know now that it's a seriously poor port of the games, but they're still the only version I've ever played of 2/3. I didnt really have access to any other versions, but now that I can afford to buy a Ps2 and the original copies or just buy it for PC, should I try to switch to one of those versions? I have no nostalgia factor for them, so that's not a factor, but I've always been curious if making the switch would really be worth it. I've played through the HD collection so many times I can't even bring myself to make the decision, and i figured Reddit would know if it's really worth it to switch the the true version, or to just keep playing what i already have been?

Dos anyone else think the OSTs also dipped in quality after SH4?

Akira is great but I feel like his music isn't as good in Origins, Homecoming and SM as it was in the firsts games...

The Origins OST is pretty good but it doesn't come close to the others and I can't get behind H and SM at all...

Is it just me or is it a popular opinion?

Unpopular opinion: I don’t want a new silent hill game, I just want the originals on steam and other platforms.

The original 4 are masterpieces which also have a lot of replay ability. So it would be a good idea to have them ported to modern systems. Especially on steam so they are easy to access. This gives the games a bigger audience and people can play it on the go.

This could also spawn a modding community, like skins for the characters or added scenarios.

I just feel like this would do good for the franchise.

Can Pyramid Head in other games be the same one as the original? Warning sh2&5 spoilers ahead!

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 04:15 PM PDT

[Pretense before reading this is my first fan theory so there may be grammar and lore mistakes, with that in mind enjoy]

It was always bugging me from a lore standpoint to why pyramid head was in sh5: Homecoming. It is commonly accepted that pyramid head it specific to james Sunderland and his sh experience. yet we find Alex Shepherd come in contact with him years after the events of sh2

How? Well sh2 had a few endings, one of them being the "rebirth ending" where james was sent out to collect four items in NG+ to see james rowing mary on the lake saying how worshipping the old gods of silent hill can have benefits. Such as being granted immortality. Which he does to revive Mary. Another is the accepted "in water" ending where James can't let go of Mary so he carries her to his car from the beginning and drives into toluca lake killing himself to be with her together.

Both endings are similar being they involve the lake and james denying mary being dead, and either way james is missing. If you look from the rebirth ending james is now worships one of many gods the order does, james could possibly be a posthumous member. This is where the the theory takes off. James can still be an active spirit in the town. With the help of alessa use his own inner demons on others, Either to help them or just be evil. And that can explain how the pyramid heads we see in Homecoming can be canonically be the original.

P.s. please comment to let me know if you agree or how completely wrong this is
