Posted: 28 Jul 2020 02:35 PM PDT SPOILERS: Maria is truly a tragic character. Birthed by Silent Hill to fulfill James' wish to have a sexually provocative version of his wife. She knows that James is a 'bad man' (as stated by Ernest Baldwin) and that she has a part to play in his tragic story. She appears to be self-aware, capable of feeling pain and lacking in free will at times, certain actions and memories implanted into her. She dies 3-4(?) times in the game in horrible ways, seemingly simply to get James to remember and accept what he has done to Mary. There's no good justification for the pain she has to bear and I like how it throws out the idea that Silent Hill exists to punish the guilty (as some believe). Just when you think you understand the town's intentions, a curve ball like Maria is thrown into the mix that makes you question whether there is any rhyme or reason for the goings on in Silent Hill. Posted: 28 Jul 2020 12:57 PM PDT I've been thinking about this for a really long time, something about the scene with Eddie eating pizza. Specifically the way he say "uh no," when James asks if he's alone. What if Eddie's "monsters" are normal people who are bullying him thought the game? Like he actually paid a guy for them but suffered some insults for it. [link] [comments]

What was your introduction into the series? Posted: 28 Jul 2020 04:54 PM PDT I was 13 when the first Silent Hill came out. I had a cousin who was a year older and told me he got this game but couldn't play it. He was terrified. He said it was too scary and being the brat that I was (er..still am), I told him I would take it off of his hands. He didn't want it anymore anyway. This couldn't be that bad, right? I was enchanted immediately. I became obsessed. It filled me with so much dread but I couldn't put it down. It gave me nightmares but I had to keep going. It made me uncomfortable but I just had to see how it ended. I had a true taste of horror for the first time and it stayed with me. It influenced me in many ways and opened up different worlds that I didn't know about. Especially as a learning teenager. The art. The sounds. The intricate story. All of it. What was your gateway story to the series? I'd love to know! [link] [comments]
Something I've always wondered about Silent Hill 4: The Room Posted: 28 Jul 2020 07:52 PM PDT Room 202 of Apartment World. The room with all the paintings. The painter painted all the residents of South Ashfield Heights, with two exceptions. I always wondered why he didn't paint Eileen or Henry. The painter even painted Rachel's stalker, who he hated, so I don't know why he wouldn't do one of our protagonists. Maybe there's symbolism there? With how Henry or Eileen weren't painted but everyone else was? Maybe I'm just looking too deeply into it, perhaps he just didn't have the time to paint them or Team Silent didn't find a painting of them necessary. But it still makes me think... Posted: 28 Jul 2020 02:20 AM PDT I really liked downpour TBH.... its not my fav SH game (SH2 and SH1 are my favs) Its not really creepy or scary even... But the story was great IMO. And i did enjoy the atmosphere quite a bit.... it honestly doesnt "feel" like a silent hill game I agree on that.... but besides that I really enjoyed the game a lot. I loved free roaming through the town doing side quests and exploring. The music in town was also really great IMO. I dunno man i just think this game was a lot better than most make it out to be! <3 So tell me... any1 else enjoy it? or if not... tell me why you didnt enjoy it? [link] [comments]
whats everyone's opinion on "resting comfortably" - silent hill 4? Posted: 27 Jul 2020 10:17 PM PDT this soundtrack played at the apartment complex at the very end of the game, just walking through the empty complex after eileen's gone to room 302 all alone with the unsettling walls twitching is a moment that really stands out compared to all the other silent hill games in a very melancholic way imo. the highlight of that game [link] [comments]
