Finished SH4 The Room Today, my thoughts about it Posted: 19 Aug 2020 02:23 PM PDT It was the only game from Team Silent left I haven't played but finally I did :) https://preview.redd.it/zo79kz7us0i51.jpg?width=760&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=805c4610edcdc26f74067d4975195178fe53b09b Its different from the previous 3 titles and try out a lot of new things. I like this new approach, but think that most ideas and features doesn't work out that good and weren't much thought out. Spoilers Alert! PROS Room 302 It gave the entire game such a different and interesting feeling. I loved it every time when I return that something has changed and that you always find new letters and stuff in it. Also that you see the outside world wich is totally normal from it is great. Highlight of it was when the mixed puzzles from the dream worlds with it. Dream Worlds Every time you need to go trough these endless dark hole from your apartment in these worlds was so fascinating. Its the first game that doesnt play directly in Silent Hill. Okay SH3 also is not in the Town at the beginning but in SH4 The Room we are never directly in the town just in locations that are near them. But the totally nailed the creepy atmosphere with them. Forest and Water Prison where my favorites, but also the apartment world had a lot of interesting stuff in it. Characters I was very impressed how many characters we meet in this game, but everyone of them was quit interesting and unique. Especially the Characters you meet in the first half of the game and return later as the boss ghosts where interesting. But my favorites where Eileen and Walter. Story Every SH Game had a great story but SH4 story brought to a new level. Walter is such a interesting Antagonist. The game unfolds so much how deeper you get into it, you Clearly see how well it ties together with the previous titles and see a lot of cool connections. While it also try out something completely new. ​ CONS Ghosts They add a lot to the atmosphere of this game, but later in game the became pretty annoying and also hurt some of the important parts of an SH Game, the exploration. You are constantly stressed to flee from them and they are also pretty fast. I think they game should have had more ways to deal with them then just the amulets/candles and swords because even these items where very limited. Combat I kinda like the approach that SH4 tried to make Combat more important and moved it more too melee combat. But It did it poorly in my opinion. The Combat felt clunky and the controls made it even more frustrating. If the waned to focus on it they would have needed to work it better out. Eileen Again this is a great idea but poorly implanted. Having a companion that follow you and didnt let you alone in this nightmare and also effect the ending is a great Idea. But make the entire second half an escort mission is not. Also the previous cons I mentioned made it very annoying for me to protect her. Room 302 (Again) Room 302 had its strengths but also a lot of weakness. That you need to travel back to it every time to save or manage your inventory made it annoying. This totally breaks the immersion of the game for me. Also the Hauntings later in the second half of the game where an interesting turning point and great for the story and atmosphere. But gameplaywise poorly implanted and frustrating. I found nearly every candle in this game but by the end I had 4 different hauntings in the apartment. (A mistake from me was also to talking the doll from Walter) But again I think that we should have had more ways to interact and deal with hauntings in the apartments. ​ CONCLUSION I got the "Mother" Ending. It was a good game and the most terrifying/scary from Team Silent for me. But its also my least favorite from the 4. Wich doesnt mean its bad. I just doesn't enjoyed it that much as 1,2 and 3. Gameplaywise it took an interesting way but for me most ideas weren't implanted that good. ​ What are your Opinions on SH4 The Room? I’m doing a zombies map. I need your help. Posted: 19 Aug 2020 07:59 PM PDT I know it's a little out of the norm, but I'm making a Silent Hill 2, black ops 3 custom zombies map and need some input. I wanna know what weapons would be a good fit, Wonder weapons and such. Being from a call of duty game increases likelihood of getting 'er in there. Ideas for Easter eggs would be stellar. Characters!! I'm super new to 3D modelling and rigging but I have a James model. And a skeleton or two ready for rigging. I'll put in the effort if I can lay down a solid 4 players. I'm already pretty into the whole Akira Yamaoka music collection so I think music should be good. I was thinking like the classic sh2 dogs for doggo rounds. Let me know!!
