Anybody play the Little Hope game? Clearly inspired by silent hill

    Posted: 04 Nov 2020 01:13 PM PST

Just wanted to see what fellow horror lovers thought of this little game by supermassive. Its environment and psychological tinge is quite clearly inspired by silent hill.

As a huge fan of until dawn, I thought Man of Medan was just alright, and Little Hope was a dud to me unfortunately.

The pacing was atrocious and some story dicisions late game made no sense to me, and kinda cheapen the whole experience. Overall a step down in most ways, I wish they'd make something substantial like until dawn again.

    Great monster designs though

Was browsing shoegaze music and noticed this artists name. Mary's Restless Dream. Obvious Silent Hill 2 reference.

As Konami invested heavily into the pachinko machine market, does anyone wonder if they will now finally release something game wise to makeup for lost profits due to covid?

Not saying a new game out into production, but maybe ports that they know full well the fans want. I would really like a port of silent hill 1, it's almost criminal how that game has only ever been released on Psone.

Where would be Silent Hill in real map?

    Posted: 04 Nov 2020 11:35 AM PST

Where would be Silent Hill in real map?

I was thinking if it was possible to locate a real place to be the town of Silent Hill in the map of Maine, so this is my theory about it

First, Silent Hill is in Maine (source). Maine has 16 counties (source). Where should I begin? Well, the answer is in Silent Hill 4 (SH4) and Silent Hill: Downpour (SHD)

Ashfield (SH4) is a town in Massachusetts, even though it's not clear in any game the correct location, in the USA map there is only an Ashfield near Maine, and it's in Massachusetts

In SHD there is a sign with the number of the miles away, which is 168 miles or 270.369 kilometers

Based on that, I mapped Ashfield in google maps and then went 270 km (more or less) to find in the ratio of the map, inside of the Maine state, a place with a lake (which could be Toluca Lake), and there I found something!

Lewiston in Androscoggin was the best location, because I had other two options, which were Brunswick in Cumberland and Woodstock in Oxford; but to be honest, the distance was a little forced, and what I found in Lewiston was a lot better

I invite you to visit the whole article in this link>> click me

I will only post what I found that could be the best to match this place

First, there were native people there that was forced to leave. I quote " The Lewiston area was formerly inhabited by peoples of the Androscoggin (or Arosaguntacook) tribe. The Androscoggins were a tribe of the Abenaki nation. Facing annihilation from English attacks and epidemics of new infectious diseases "

Second, that place was part of the Civil War

Third, they have a huge lake, big enough to consider a ship to navigate there

    https://preview.redd.it/ma1wshtey9x51.png?width=641&format=png&auto=webp&s=3e264ae6a48b130f73d679fec57fa274ca2cec4b

Fourth, it has a lot of places in common with Silent Hill, hospitals, parks, a lot of churches. Remember that there are a lot of fanatic people in the original Silent Hill

    https://preview.redd.it/3o46271cz9x51.png?width=415&format=png&auto=webp&s=a4ddf6288ac5aee5310ff41e13e79007ec4240f4

Fifth, the architecture is very similar

    https://preview.redd.it/4m20zhtnz9x51.png?width=248&format=png&auto=webp&s=88445ddb8b692620239b3fad5527cc961548453a

So, what do you think, people? Is Lewiston in Androscoggin a good place to locate in real map our beloved Silent Hill?

Exciting new opportunity - Locksmith urgently needed for Silent Hill area due to thousands of locks being jammed and doors unable to be opened.

The area does occasionally get dark, turn metal and have a rather loud siren but some of the residents are friendly enough. We also have a severe weather fog warning in place.

    The Hand Outside the Window

    Posted: 04 Nov 2020 02:08 AM PST

I've been replaying Silent Hill 3 recently, and came across this in the hospital stage. Once the hospital changes over to the 'Otherworld' you go into a side room. There's some ammo and this female-looking hand in the window. If you interact with it, all Heather says is 'The hand outside the window.' No snark, no being grossed out, nothing. Like she knows why it's there.

This is surely a reference to Wuthering Heights, with the ghost of Cathy reaching her hand through the window? The 'hand outside the window' scene is probably the most iconic part of that novel.

I've scoured the internet for confirmation but there's absolutely nothing. Either I'm the first person to make this connection, or I'm wrong and it's just Silent Hill being macabre for the sake of it.
